Cam Johnson needs to take a Mikal-Bridges size step in year two for the Brooklyn Nets

Cam Johnson enters the offseason as one of the top Free Agent targets in the NBA and with a potential $20m/year contract coming his way the Nets are once again at a critical point in their franchise.
The new CBA will make it harder for teams to compile and move money for superstars, making the easiest path forward to develop and grow in-house talent. While Cam came over from Phoenix via trade, he is effectively a part of the new core for Sean Marks. If Cam Johnson can tap into the playoff performances we saw against Philadelphia and become a consistent threat off the dribble, the Nets can look back on his impending contract as a blessing rather than a burden

  1. Cam Johnson I love but he’s 27. He is who he is. More likely is Ben goes back to being ben

  2. First off Mikal Bridges is the defacto superstar of Brooklyn future. But Cam Johnson overall in the playoffs was the best consistent player. Taking accurate shots, turning defense into offense and finding different ways to show the versatility in his offense. Johnson even had an insane dunk on Joel Embid at one point…

Johnson height coupled with his offensive versatility is a rare commodity to have in the league and there is no doubt he earned a jump in a pay raise extension…

He's important to Brooklyn new core with Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton 🔥🔥🔥🔥….

  3. Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson bring consistent defense and complimentary offensive profiles that helped Brooklyn shine in the playoffs…

Going forward both of them have more leaps and and levels to overcome and they have the potential to be in the all star game next year if they keep playing with the intensity and focus they showed in Brooklyn 🔥…

But overall they are both hogh character hard working culture builders who cate about making Brooklyn a fun respectable and competitive team in the league again….

More importantly hekp establish a actual championship structure going forward…

  4. As far as Ben Simmons goes he should not be so focused with going to this world cup in Australia. As much as it's important to get off-season play in and represent your country Ben Simmons worrisome chronic back issues could affect him again if he participates and the LAST thing Brooklyn needs is him to be injured before training camp starts….

Brooklyn is tired of the ifs with Ben Simmons and want to see the results and him being available next season…

  5. If the Brooklyn Nets can' move forward with Ben Simmons next season trading him regardless of his value might be the only thing to officially give Brooklyn a full complete rebuild.

Looking at different teams who could covet Ben Simmons defense and playmaking skills the Golden state warriors could be a surprising team… Their dynasty could be coming to an end with Draymond Green possibly getting traded. Losing Draymond could significantly change the warriors defense for the worse and they could be looking for a replacement. Ben Simmons has been compared to Green for years and arguably has the more diverse skillset and could fill his role with the warriors.

Brooklyn meanwhile could trade Ben Simmons for some real young superstar potential to join their new core:

Brooklyn Nets: Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

Golden state warriors: Ben Simmons Cam Thomas Royce o Neale patty Mills and three first round draft picks…

Jordan Poole had an insane rookie season helping be a main cog to them winning a championship. However this season hasn't been up to his standards and hes complained about not having more minutes in the starting lineup and might want a fresh start to be a main contributor again… Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody meanwhile are young prospects with big potential to be contributors in the league and could grow more being apart of Brooklyn…

Getting rid of Ben Simmons contract and supplementing the warriors with patty Mills veteran experience, Cam Thomas scoring potential Royce o Neale gritty defense and some draft pick compensation should be a very convincing package to allow Brooklyn new core to get younger and more competitive 🔥🔥🔥…

Something to hypothetically think about in the off-season at least….

  6. The coach keeps telling his players to shoot a lot of 3s per game. We need to play to our players strengths.
