Oh well. I know it’s not over but honestly the way they lost game 4 kinda broke me. Not getting a shot off after the coach refuses to call a timeout on two separate occasions to potentially put the game away is just fucking embarrassing. I just can’t bring myself to care about this team at the moment. I’m not even sure what it is. Maybe it’s how inconsistent the “star” player is. Maybe it’s how incompetent I feel the coaching staff is. Maybe it’s the incessant complaining from Tatum to the refs. Maybe it’s just fatigue from year after year after year of coming up short but I just don’t care the way I used to anymore. This team has me mentally checked out and unfortunately it’s seeping into other aspects of my life.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they still ended up winning the series and I sincerely hope they do but I can’t say I truly believe in this core. They just seem so soft and I doubt they’ll ever reach their full potential. Everyone’s going to bring up how they came back from being down 2-3 to the Bucks last year but this is a different team. Last year they were resilient and this year they always fold. Whether it’s losing like 3 in a row to the lottery-bound Magic or failing to close out a borderline play-in team like Atlanta, this team just keeps finding new ways to embarrass and vomit all over itself.

On the bright side, with this season likely being over soon I’ll have more time to focus on my other hobbies. The new Zelda is coming out on Friday so that’ll be a nice way to forget about the weirdness and frustration of this season and, frankly, the whole post-Isaiah Thomas era.

    So bad.

Only positive is that we have been here before.

It just isn’t gonna end this way

  3. Idiosonic

Last week I had to have a catheter jammed up my dickhole and somehow that was more enjoyable than watching the Celtics play basketball tonight.

  4. You know it’s fucking sad when our bench guys come in playing with more intensity than our fucking starters. That’s just fucking pathetic.

We’re on to Game 6. Let’s hold these guys can get their heads out of their fucking asses.

Joe Mazzulla cannot be the long term plan. He did admirably given the Ime timing and the Cs were shit out of luck for options.

The playoffs are when coaches get checked and doc rivers is running circles around this dude. The roster improved yet we’ve taken 2 steps back from last season. He’s incredibly young and not ready for HC, at least for a contender.

The catch is then we turn into a revolving door franchise. Next hire has to be gold, might not be this offseason but the org isn’t doing this core any favors if they’re not ready to pounce when someone proven is available.

  6. With this loss, the Lakers are now the favorites to win the title…. Jesus Christ what a shitty night

I don’t think Joe is a bad coach. He’s a rookie that found out he was going to be head coach just a couple of weeks before the season began. He didn’t have time to pick his coaching staff, and he lost two of his assistants during the season.

That being said, I wish they went for a more experienced coach. I think Quin Snyder could’ve been a good choice. This isn’t a rebuilding team. This team is so well-built. They’re deep and they have talent. But they’re getting out-coached. The “let them play and figure it out” philosophy hasn’t been working this series, so why keep doing it? Grant hasn’t scored much, but he’s been solid in other areas and shows hustle. Why did he barely play tonight? When nothing is falling on offense, why not give Hauser or PP a minute to see what they can do? I’m not a “Joe doesn’t make any adjustments ever” guy, but what the fuck? Unless this team is completely invested in and believe in Joe, I wouldn’t mind if they try to go after someone like Nick Nurse and see what they can do. We have one more year with everyone under contract. Now is not the time to let a rookie coach learn on the job.

And no disrespect to Joe at all. I think he has potential. But this team doesn’t have much more time to learn and grow.

  8. used09jetta

The only consistent part of this team is shooting themselves in the foot.

  9. bradyisking

Joe is such a fucking bitch for taking a victory lap over the media after game 2. Like bro what have you accomplished, you have shown to be nothing but an analytics fraud

  10. Skeleton_crew_

Losing at home like this is embarrassing.

  11. sunnyPorangedrank

Jt jb and smart can say whatever but they dont truly hold themselves accountable

  12. Look what happens when you let a 16 year old without a license have the keys to a Ferrari! I’m shocked!

  13. badjezus

Coaching matters in close game. When you are getting blown out by 20, your players just suck.

  14. Agt00Leprechaun

Here’s to hoping Doc blows another 3-2 lead

  15. Jayson Tatum gotta get his shit together. Can’t believe our bench just outperformed our starters significantly.

  16. ATrueSunbro

I’m not gonna bitch, moan, and say blow it all the way up or some dogshit take like that. Losses happen, its best of 7 not 5. But seriously though, I really hate how this iteration of the Celtics literally cannot seem to consistently win big home games in the playoffs. It is sad and frustrating and it’s been that way a minute now.

  17. Terbmagic

Tatum and Horford just obliterated us in the beginning. At one point they were 1 for 13 shooting combined. Horford just SO MANY missed wide open threes.

  18. supersickx3

Incoming down 3-2 to Milwaukee last season post in O/U 5 minutes

  19. Big_Budget2929

Nick Nurse better get a phone call next week

  20. DrownedInBeans

I’m not as critical of Mazzulla as a lot of this sub, but I have no idea why Brogdon played so many minutes tonight and why he plays so many minutes down the stretch in general. His job is to help cook bench units and keep the starters fresh. When he’s not scoring he rarely has a positive impact, and he just did not have it at all tonight (I also just don’t think his play compliments the starters super well). Couldn’t finish layups, didn’t have his normal midrange, and he’s the worst defender/rebounder in the rotation. Would’ve much rather seen Hauser or even Pritchard get some of those mins/shots tonight. Literally no one on the team could hit a wide open 3P so it seemed like a good opportunity to shake things up and see what Hauser can do.

  21. Velynedra

I honestly don’t care about anybody’s analysis. They looked like they wanna win and we looked like we are in the garden to sell sneakers. Whatever must-win or desperation or urgency they want to say, just shut up and show us this Thursday. I’m off the internet take care guys.

  22. beardmat87

This team needs a jimmy Butler. A guy who’s gonna get mad and thrash these guys on the court when they are playing soft slow ball. They need an angry dawg

  23. gilgagorgon

    Good news:
Doc Rivers has a history of playoff collapses
Celtics won game 6 on the road last season against a better team

    Bad news:
Doc Rivers has used Joe Mazzulla like a speed bag and exposed him — as Snyder did — as one of the most painfully out of his league coaches in the NBA and an inexcusable error from Stevens
The entire team looks completely shook after blowing two games by two possessions and appear to have zero confidence while Philly finally believes they can beat the doors off the Celtics

  24. This will go under the radar because of Horford’s shooting performance, but Rob did absolutely nothing on either end of the floor tonight. So many missed rebounds, straight bad defense on Embiid, nothing offensively. He normally brings so much energy and it was like we were playing 4 on 5 when he was out there

  25. Jetisfly420

Y’all delusional if you think this is going to be Bucks series, more like the Warriors Finals. Team gave up and has no answer for 76ers

  26. Difference between the identity of the team being defense last year and being 3pt chuckers this year. Our shooting went to shit today and we couldn’t guard a single player out there. Even House was cooking.

We’ve been called doomers for doubting Joe’s version of this team but the writing has been on the wall once our purple patch ended after the first two months.

  27. At the end of the day, these players and coaches are millionaires who are set for life, us fans don’t need to be fumed by sports.
