INSTANT REACTION: Celtics completely fall apart as 76ers take 3-2 series lead

Boston Celtics get blown out in game 5 by the Philadelphia 76ers, 115-103. Tom Giles, Eddie House and Brian Scalabrine talk about the lack of defense in the loss. They agree the Celtics don’t seem to be playing with a sense of urgency.

  1. Sticking with Joe after the elimination should be the death knell for the core here. They are no longer the young, up and comers with ceilings projected into the future. The core is in the here and now; you cannot afford to continue to do this stuff; you saw the result of putting a legitimate coach that's been in the league and knows what he's doing…you get to Game 6 of the Finals. Yeah, he messed up, but putting a first time head coach that hasn't paid the dues and into the center of a title window is not going to yield successful results.

He should have never gotten the interim tag taken off; instead, should have been put into the position of earning the HC title in order to keep all parties' options open in case of failure. Now if the Celtics elect to move on, they will be paying three head coaches and unbelievably, a fourth unsuccessful one is presiding over the entire basketball operation. Its totally insane.

If this team is eliminated, Jaylen may want to leverage himself out of this and have his own team and I'm not sure you'd want Stevens (another guy with little experience running a franchise), handling a trade of that magnitude. Hire the hometown guy Sam Presti or Masai Ujiri, give him the keys to the entire operation and let him fix all of this. There is still a way to salvage this.

  2. Does the leader suppose to lead the team and isn’t Jason Tatum the leader of this team. His face always shows up. Why are you not talking about the leadership of Jason Tatum.

  3. Tbh I had a bad feeling when everybody was saying we have the best record possible against philly, embiid hardly wins against us, we have depth. All of that materialized but the other way.
And the tatum case is weird, that is not top 10 material. He doesn't carry the team when they need him most. He forces those god damn 3s.

  4. 2 problems. Tatum isn’t a power forward. He’s a small forward. They need to start two bigs like Robert Williams and Horford. Also they shoot way too many threes, which is lazy and doesn’t allow the team to problem solve and find good shots.

  5. now those blown game 1 and game 4's come to bite the celtics. they have to hope JT has game 6 magic like he did with the bucks last year. imo celtics need a hot-shooting game from 3 to win. they showed this past couple of games that with embiid back, they arent winning shooting like crap from 3. they'll need all nba performances from JT and JB.

  6. Embids block on Jaylens break away tells u everything u need to know. Celts were mediocre the 2nd half of the year and coming out bombing 3s is just plain stupid. Terrible effort and poor body lanquage throughput. Immature team

  7. They will look back at game 4 and game 5 and be disgusted with themselves whether they pull out Philly or not, Miami will come hard 24/7 and we simply never do. idk if it is the coach or the players but Brad better know by the end of the season……..

  8. Celtics are a better team than the 76ers! But refuse to play like it! Games 1 and 4 where given to the 6ers, because of their lack of killer instinct! Unless the REAL Celtics show up, in game 6! THEY ARE TOAST!

  9. This has got to be the most unlikable and frustrating Boston team in my life. They’re so hard to root for with their style of play and then how they give us the plethora of cliches for their inexcusable effort.

Stopped watching the games since Game 1 this series for my mental health (just peeping box scores here and there) and glad I did because if I were to watch this game I wouldn’t be able to handle it lol

  10. If we’re being honest, we all knew something was off with this Celtics team for a while now. As much as I hate Mazulla, there is no excuse for this team. They don’t have a defined leader like other teams. Tatum and Brown aren’t those guys because they would have already been that. I believed in last year’s team, I don’t believe in this one. The game 5 lost vs Hawks at home without Murray was the final realization that this team just doesn’t have it

  11. Idk if this series is over but I’m just not excited anymore. This series could have been a sweep and now we’re getting blown out. I just don’t see anything promising in the team anymore. Even if win in 7 I don’t feel excited about playing the Heat or any other team. I just feel like any win is just prolonging us going home.

  12. Celtics defense are totally disorganized😢😢 so disappointing to watch.. Finals experience and confidence were gone.

  13. fire joe blo. its gona b lakers n sixers or heat. most likely heat. its gona b yr of the lowest seeds
