I don’t wanna hear nothing about “Glenn” tonight. This man was the DOC and he schooled Mazulla. Athletic lineups, effective timeouts. Great coaching clinic all round.

Would have never imagined a post like this just a few months ago

With Doc coaching like this and our role playing balling out? We’re winning it all!

Funny he’s doing it against the franchise that carried his legacy 😭😭😭

  4. He had an amazing coaching performance tonight. He was playing chess for years letting opposing coaches think he was a thumb, only to shine at the perfect time.

I think bringing in those bench pieces who play both ends are a big help for how Doc likes to rotate.

  6. After game 1 it started to look like the Sixers might have the coaching advantage.

He has deserved the criticism he has had, but tonight he did good, House was a really nice addition to the series off the bench

Getting Maxey looks all game and shutting g down Brown and Tatum throughout

This was the doc that won a championship tonight

This man was cooking. He honestly has been all post season.

I’m gonna be honest. That all bench + Harden lineup gave me some fears when we didn’t make a bucket for like 5 minutes in the 2nd. But the team made it work. I don’t love that lineup. I’d rather see a bit more staggering with starters because that stretch was very concerning. Boston closed it to like 6 or 8 or something in the second, and he at least put the starters back in to extend the lead again. We shouldn’t run a full bench + player lineup. Either do Harris + Harden and bench, or Maxey and Embiid + bench, but that stretch of the game I was fully expecting a Boston gap-closing run and we got lucky they couldn’t hit shots.

At one point the Celtics hit a 3 and he immediately called a TO to cutoff any sort of run.

    Plus the rotations were excellent

Not only that, he continued to empower Maxey even when the shot wasn’t falling. He also made some adjustments to get him better looks more often. The Tucker handoff to Maxey is 100% something that was coached by Doc. No way Tucker is doing that by himself and Maxey knows and it happens so smoothly and perfectly.

I’ve said it before, the Celtics are, unquestionably, deeper than we are. But the playoffs ain’t about deep it’s about top heavy talent. And Maxey is a better three point shooter than every single Celtic just like Joel and James are better than the Jays.

Getting some Embiid traditional post touches in the 2nd which led to free throws every time was a great adjustment.

“That was *Doctor* Rivers out there. that was the adult in the gym”

Love that he brought Embiid back a little earlier knowing that if they just maintained their lead he could rest him the last couple of minutes. Worked to perfection.

I’ll give him his props……dammit. lol

I’ve talked alot of shit on Doc for a while. Tonight he coached a masterclass. It’s about time. 😎

  19. Damn he was just coasting in the regular season. True vet

  20. Incredible move going zone before they could get into a rhythm instead of doing it reactively after they already got hot

  21. thegrittyrn

Doc’s going to make me repent after this season isn’t he

  22. GrundleThief

he can be doc when he gets to the third round

  23. reddawn3196

One of the best games he’s ever called as a sixer. Bringing in house was brilliant. Locked down brogdon who has been a sneaky scorer for Boston who flies under the radar when trying to contain Tatum and brown. Also played with great pace and actually scored off the bench.

  24. King_Ky1996

Doc has been teasing us all year for us to explode all over Boston… what a legend

  25. Going to House was like when he went to Shake against the Hawks. Definitely one of the best at that

  26. YuleBeFineIPromise

I’m glad he coached well but why did it take him 5 games to utilized the most competent bench wing we have?

  27. AppleJack2202

Doc has been redeeming himself all season long. He has the team locked in right now lets go!!!

  28. Drikkink

I’ll give credit where it’s due. Doc has coached like a championship winning NBA coach these playoffs. It’s the first time I can say that in his entire time here.

  29. Wainy536

Having Maxey bring the ball up with Harden and Embiid bunching up off ball at the top of the key to create switches before the play was incredible.

Famed career off ball nothing James Harden has won game 4 with a catch and shoot corner 3 and then been active off ball to blow game 5 open.

    Here are your flowers Glenn.

  30. Stombie8

Wow he out coached a first year coach. You go doc.
