OG Anunoby finally got the recognition he deserves as it was just revealed he was selected for the NBA all-defensive second team for the 2022-2023 season. OG has long been considered one of the league’s premiere defenders but this is the first time he’s reached this honor. The player can celebrate but he now heads into a difficult offseason where he is extension eligible and though both he and the Raptors will be looking to strike a deal, the new collective bargaining agreement is going to make that virtually impossible.
The Toronto Raptors will be dealing with a number of contracts this summer, particularly for their free agents like Fred VanVleet, Jakob Poeltl, and Gary Trent Jr. but extensions to Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby could also be due. What is been such a benefit to the Raptors over the last three years is how team-friendly OG’s current contract is as the player signed a 4-year $72 million deal three years ago. This helped the Raptors in that time but now it’s hurting them with the max amount of money they can offer the player.
Will the Raptors be able to work out a solution or is OG Anunoby going to be playing on a new team in the near future? Maybe that future could be as soon as next season.

How much money do you think OG Anunoby is worth?
This is why Siakam and FVV have to be moved from the raptors
I'd offer him a bigger role, at the expense of someone like Fred and Gary (if they're both back)
How many would rather clean house of the older guys, and let the youngens (Barnes, OG, Precious, Koloko when ready, the younger guards, OR who want to continue to spin their wheels in the Maybe make the Play In, Don't Make the Playoffs, or First Round Exit, that the older so called leaders have proven is all they are capable as team leaders?
OG is injury prone, and he would take 5 years for $130 million with player option.
OG over Siakam and Fred.. yea, I said it.
Trade him
Imagine giving a stink about paying OG near 30M, but open arms to paying Fred near the same 🤣
We heading into “We The Joke” territory.
super max
are two words, should never be mentioned in same sentence with Pascal Siakam.
I would rather trade Fred and Gary if that means I keep OG a raptor.
Folks, don’t be delusional. OG does have potential, but he’s inconsistent. Don’t overate him—he has shown glimpses, but in comparison to GTJr, OG should 💯 take a back seat. Don’t forget that GTJr was being shifted back and forth from a starter to bench role; he didn’t get many opportunities to get back into any type of rhythm. OG had a couple of good road games, Charlotte and the LA Lakers game—just when it seems like he’s going to be fierce, NADA! Next several games he no shows. Take a look a OGs ball handling, it’s 90% terrible and hasn’t improved since I’ve been watching him (2018). Pascal too, but under a new coach, no matter where Pascal ends up—he will will become a clutch player and solidly improve. Unless OG makes those significant off-season changes for the better, we’ll see the same as we have for the last few years. His defense is good, but is he the stopper—no.
If the rumors were true, he just wants an increased role in the offense. The funny thing is that's not what other teams want him for. They just want a stopper so if anything he will have a better chance at being a part of the offense if he stays. I know when he is on, the team is defintely better.
@Blake Woodcrest
We completely agree with you
O.G is the only untouchable on the team imo. Build around him and Barnes.
It’s time to move on from FVV and GTJr. Please
OG said he wants to stay so why make this narrative
He should leave. They will trade him.
I would have traded him at the deadline. Too many large contracts for a 0.500 team. Too many guys on the team doing the same thing.
LET FREDDY AND TRENT GO PROBLEM SOLVED
OG’s ceiling is soooo high man. He’s shown on a bigger sample size this season that he can carry the offence and anchor the defence!
Give it another season and good health, he could be a legitimate franchise player.
Kinda a blessing siakam didn’t make all nba 🤔
