In 1997, with the Knicks up 3-1 against the Heat in the semifinals, P.J. Brown pick up and body slammed Charlie Ward for trying to box him out. David Stern suspended Patrick Ewing, Allan Houston and Charlie Ward for Game 6 and Larry Johnson and John Starks for Game 7. The Heat won in 7 games.

This was the last season Patrick Ewing averaged 20+ppg and 10+ rbg and 2+ bpg, injuring his shooting wrist the next season and missing the bulk of it. It was also the first season he had a co-star of Allan Houston’s caliber. We had Houston, Larry Johnson, Charles Oakley, and 6th man of the year John Starks. This was likely the best shot Patrick Ewing had to challenge Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and the Bulls with a bonafide star playing alongside him.

I thought we all should keep this series in our minds as we go into game 6 in Miami.

Probably the greatest injustice in sports history. NBA admitted as much changing the rule afterward. Rewarding bad behavior always comes with a karmic debt that MUST ultimately get repaid

I have a very vivid memory of this from my childhood. To this day, I still hate the heat and pacers for the late 90s. Fuck Pat Riley, fuck TH, and fuck Zo’.

So you’re saying Duncan is getting dumped on his head?
