as a young kid when AI was traded, Iggy became my de-facto favorite.

Crazy the type of career he carved out for himself.

ALWAYS THE 2006 DUNK CONTEST CHAMPION.

    FUCK NATE ROBINSON FOREVER.

Andre Iguodala. Ah, for those who speculated I was a prior poster I’ll give you the most evidence yet of my past: He’s the most polarizing player in franchise history and even in NBA history, this dude’s resume is one big freaking asterisk that should say: I rode on Steph Curry’s shoulders for 95% of this(including an Finals MVP for ‘slowing down’ LeBron James)

Until Steph won his finals MVP last year, it’d had been the most controversial finals MVP if Steph had never gotten one.

Iguodala’s time with the 76ers was sort of a precursor of things to come when it came to big contracts, big expectations and never quite living up to them. Especially in today’s NBA, if we had prime Iguodala more people would be flustered with the offensive production of a “#1 option” of about 17/18 a game.

That said, I have come to peace with Iguodala and I can better internalize my thoughts that it was management’s fault for giving him the contract he got, and for thinking of him as a #1 option but during those days, I was absolutely relentless perhaps unfairly so.

If we had prime Iguodala today, with this version of Embiid, Maxey and Harden we win a chip easily. Maybe multiple chips.

Loved that guy. It’s crazy to me how insanely irrelevant his career has been to me though. It’s like a friend from your childhood that you only kind of remember

It’s so weird seeing how this sub views Iggy in such positive light, likely due to how young they were when Iggy was on the Sixers.

He was not a fan favorite and ultimately seen as underwhelming after he got his max. He was on the same tier as Deng and Josh Smith at that time. There was even talk of luring Smith away from the Hawks and pairing the two up, but the Hawks ended up keeping Smith and the Sixers went with Elton Brand.

If I remember right, he had a passive aggressive attitude towards the fans, similar to Mcnabb. No one was upset he got traded, he was always thrown into trade discussions, the most common one being Monte Ellis for Iggy, which I hated the idea of.

For me, his Sixers career will always be a forgettable era for the team. Just middling, boring basketball.

I’ve always been a big fan of Iggys. He was never a number 1 .. but with the right support.. would be a very effective player. Glad he found success with Golden State. As a Sixers fans I only wish him the best.
