Fred VanVleet Linked The To Phoenix Suns? Should Raptors Trade For Chris Paul?

I will be discussing the latest rumors surround the Toronto Raptors! Rumors came out this morning that the Suns will look to trade Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton. Fred Vanvleet is being linked to the Phoenix Suns. I will being going through a trade scenario and discuss if it makes sense for the Raptors or the Suns to do this deal.

  1. I don’t like CP3, but his contract isn’t as bad as people think it is. Only $15.8 of the $30 million is guaranteed next season, and the final year of his deal is non-guaranteed. The main priority is to hopefully get something in return for Fred rather than lose him for nothing, unless he goes to a team with plenty of cap space (Rockets, Magic).

  2. Hey Waraich, just letting you know that the actual answer to your trivia question isn't listed. It's Jrue Holiday, he's averaged 16.0 assists per game.🙂Also, I agree that we shouldn't trade FVV for CP3. We do need a 3-point shooter, but I don't think the answer is CP3.

  3. Unless it’s a 3 way this just isn’t happening, the suns have nothing to offer

  4. When you sign and trade a player you cannot add an additional player to the signed and traded player. This means Raptors cannot send out more salary than what they have Fred signed for. Chris Paul's contract will exceed signed traded amount for Fred. If Fred picks up his option he can be traded at a value of 22.8 mil and you could add Otto Porter to that. The the second scenario Raptors have 800k more going out.

  5. Chris Paul’s career is pretty much over. The man is 38 years old! He’s actually older than Lowry, and why would he want to come here even in a trade ? If he didn’t show up I wouldn’t actually blame him, or get mad about it. At his age, and based on the career he had I wouldn’t mind if he went ring chasing because he actually deserves a ring, and not to on this team that is really not in a position to compete.

  6. smartest deal is Fred picks up his option with an agreement to extend with Balmer and Clippers ship out Eric Gordon and Bones Hyland.
