1 day until we do it again
That’s sad, we’re sad.
That’s a wild stat. I think we’ll be alright.
They made it as far as the NBA Finals that season as well.
For further context:
*The 1982 76ers led their ECF series against Boston 3-1 before allowing them to tie it.
*The 76ers lost Game 6 at home by 13 points, getting outscored 27-11 in the 4th quarter.
*The 76ers had previously lost Game 5 in Boston by 29 points.
*The previous season (1980-81), the 76ers DID blow a 3-1 series lead to the Celtics in the ECF, losing Games 5 & 7 on the road and Game 6 at home. (They lost those 3 games by a total of 5 points. Two other games in the series were also decided by 2 points or less.)
*The 1982 76ers won Game 7 in Boston 120-106. (I vaguely remember watching that game as a 9 year old.)
The 1982 ECF was actually the third straight year the 76ers and Celtics played in the conference finals. (The 76ers beat Boston 4 games to 1 in 1980.)
So you’re telling me there’s a chance
I put my life on it we losing man I got no hope
