The Celtics mental edge over the Sixers that momentarily slipped away after Game 5, is now back with Boston. Down 8 with 1:32 remaining in the 4th Quarter (in a series clinching game 6), the two court leaders for Philadelphia completely disengage from the game. Any other team in the NBA would’ve had 5 guys at the very least hustling back up the court. Especially the junk teams like Detroit and Charlotte. Now this isn’t to say we can’t lose Game 7. If we fuck around, there’s a good chance we find out. But if we come out firing at 110% I doubt Philly will get out of the mental cage enough to even make the game look competitive. But then again, we don’t know what will happen until it does.

Also in that clip is smart wildly dribbling into traffic and almost turning it over, so I wouldn’t get too excited. Boston definitely can be more locked in and give more effort than the Sixers when the players are engaged, but they also tend to do shit like this and throw games away late, which is also a mental aspect of basketball.
Joe was so hype for the timeout lmao
Probably not the best example of the Celtics mental advantage.
Da fuck was Smart doing trying to split two defenders there?
Why do people who think Celtics have some sort of a mental edge over Sixers not realize that everything comes to an end at some point. Curse of Bambino that had plagued Boston so long did end at some point, did it not?
Celtics have already choked multiple games this series by making poor decisions, none of this mental edge shit matters anymore. It’s Game 7, anything can happen, and the range of possibilities include Harden, Maxey and Embid going Super Saiyan on our asses together just as much as the possibility of JT and JB going supernova together.
Stop with this overconfident BS, based on the 12 games so far in these playoffs, that over confidence is clearly misplaced. Just take care of business, forget about “mental edge” or “Doc Rivers and Harden are Game 7 chokers” and all that crap.
I mean… tatum and brown were even slower to get up the court than the Philly players you pointed out in the clip.
