Actually, Brogdon was taking up more of White's mins in this whole series for a match up to put body strength to Harden on both ends (Harden is actually giving more efforts on D!) Also Mazulla limited RW mins before was his tendency or inability to read and hold his position not going for double team & esp blocks that gave up open 3s or off rebounds to opponents. (if you don't believe me, you can go watch G6 again and there were at least 5 open 3s he gave up for giving help or senselessly double team, then bite on opponent pump fakes) G6 was a gamble to put more protection to the paint and make it difficult for any Sixers to score inside while creating the lob threat so Sixers had to pay attention to his cut to hoop but sacrificed 3 point threat, as Sixers generally played very solid D to defend the 3 point line while Tatum again, like last yr, too slow to react at times with the ball up top. This is because they have Tucker this year (remember how Celtics 2 Js performed in the attack initiation whenever he was playing them last yr playoffs?) Mazulla had to manage the mix and match up well to ensure Sixers don't get comfortable with RW and exploit him too much. You'll also rarely see RW finishing the game as he for sure will get exploited. Celtics were fortunate that those 5+ open 3s Sixers only made 2. Besides the lob, RW also is not a threat as he has this tendency to pass the ball outside even if he got off rebound 10 ft from hoop with smaller defender on him. If that was Horford, he'd certainly bully inside to score. Celtics did mediocre job finding Horford for mismatches down low while just used him to try to pull Embiid away from hoop and live or die with his 3s. This is not a good strategy as Horford needs to get some touches and scoring down low to get warm rather than being a 3 point sniper.
It’s not because Rob is a better player than White, we all know that. It’s because Rob is a better fit defensively for Embiid who has been giving Celtics too much trouble in the paint. Embiid is the sixers best offensive threat and his offense primarily runs on the paint. If we have some like Rob who is a great rim protecter and one of the best defenders as center in the NBA, he is a clear choice over White
