Rare Tree Rollins Pistons Dunk (it’s pretty routine, so don’t get your hopes up)

April 21, 1991 – Tree Rollins played 37 games for the Detroit Pistons. Tree Rollins scored 36 points for the Detroit Pistons. Of his fourteen career field goals with the Detroit Pistons, there’s no telling how many were dunks, though we do know it was no more than fourteen. So with this clip, you’re watching something that only happened, at best, fourteen times in league history. More likely, the majority of 35-year-old Rollins’ buckets came via layup or jump hook, which would dramatically increase the scarcity of the highlight linked above.

Let Tree’s aerial grace wash over you.

  1. tree's dunk even got a replay with mike fratello (his coach when he played in ATL, aka the czar of the telestrator) diagramming how he got open.
that's showing respect to a player who got such little playing time with DET that year.

i loved how he threw the ball to will perdue after the dunk.

  2. Whoa! Tree Rollins with an assist from Scott Hastings! Need context. As a side note: Quick story about Scott Hastings… he was on “Fast Break” demonstrating how he practiced shooting and warming up. I used his drill growing up , while I played HS ball and even beyond recreationally and by myself. (Ryan would love to see that video I that I saw once almost 25 years ago that served me for my career!). And thank you Scott Hastings for being a great Piston !

  3. Lol I don’t even remember tree being on the pistons. He had some good games against the pistons back in the day.

  4. At one point the Bad Boys had William Bedford, and Tree Rollins. Everyone called Bedford the future so with Tree and him It was "the future" and the "past!"
