Cameron Payne totaled 31 points and six rebounds for the Suns as Kevin Durant added 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists. After closing out the series, 4-2, the Nuggets now advance to the Western Conference Finals where they will face the winner of the Golden State Warriors-Los Angeles Lakers series (Lakers lead 3-2).

Jokic could have easily been the MVP this year and it would have been well deserved. He probably didn’t win it for a couple of reasons though.
This would have been his third in a row and Embiid is a new face for mvp unlike Jokic and Giannis. Furthermore the Nuggets had a stretch of bad games after the all star break when it seemed like they took their foot of the gas. Lastly Joel dominated the head to head match up. I personally don’t like that he didn’t play in the other one but it is what it is.
Whether you agree with these reasons or not is another question. MJ and Lebron could and probably should have more mvps and all time greats like Kobe, Hakeem and Shaq only have one mvp while Steve Nash has two. Other greats never won mvp despite outstanding careers and seasons, D-Wade comes to mind.
