I love the Spurs, have been a fan since I was a young boy, I'm 43 now. I believe Pop is still coaching because he lost his wife, & wants to stay busy. If they get the #1 pick, it might be like Tim Duncan all over again! I miss the old spurs! They were boring, yet, fun to watch because of how they moved the ball around. I always hoped LBJ would play with Pop one day and they could get a ring together, lol, not likely.

I agree, always rubbed me the wrong way how he treated people just doing their job. People say he's an inherently good person but inherently good people don't treat "underlings" with arrogance.

Pop hasn't been much at all without hall of famers. He had all stars and good young talent before completely blowing up the team, and did absolutely nothing with it, besides being a complete jerk to people.
Skip's argument here is contradictory to what he has always preached. Just because a guy never played pro, that does mean that he doesn't know the sport. Pop needed Tim just as bad as Tim needed Pop.

What Skip seems to miss here is that great coaches almost always have great players and great players almost always have great coaches. When the great coach is missing great players (and often vice versa) they often struggle. He likes to pretend that Bill Belichick and Gregg Popovich are the exception instead of the rule because he doesn't like them. But sports history is absolutely LITTERED with examples of great coaches struggling before and after they had the right players. He is just talking nonsense.
I love Pop. He's one of the greatest coaches in NBA history and I too don't like the between quarter interviews. They're pointless and take away from the game.

Well at the end of the day every franchise has a stretch of terrible seasons . Look at the lakers in the mid 2010s, or the warriors in 2020 and 2021.
