  1. For some reason that dumb “Jokic is a playoff choker” narrative popped up a lot this season.

  2. Work_U_Dumb

nbacirclejerk forgive me, for I will be rooting for Nuggets

  3. EasyMoney92

It’s not unimpeachable (Ayton held him to 51% true shooting in a sweep during the 2021 2nd round series and he lost a game 7 at home where he had a 48% true shooting game), but it’s substantially better than Embiid’s

Nobody really has an “unimpeachable” postseason record though to me. There’s always something you can criticize. Closest are Jordan and Russell–followed by LeBron.

  4. _Zap_Rowsdower_

Jokic is the real MVP. Voters started cracking when someone brought the race card into it.

  5. musicjacker

Embiid needs to return that MVP on his way to Cancun.

I always thought the narrative around him being a playoff choker was so silly. It’s like no one who said those things actually followed the seasons in question or watched the nuggets at all those years.

He was on some extremely flawed/ injured teams. It’s not like he was playing next to a former MVP or anything.

Sure. He’s a flawed player in some ways but he’s played well in the playoffs pretty much every time he’s been there

Jokic lost to the Finals suns and champion Warriors with guys like Austin Rivers, Will Barton, Facundo Campazzo, and Monte Morris as his rotation guards in the playoffs. He had generationally bad help. Whenever he has decent help he’s gone to the WCF twice.

  8. nguyenjitsu

People want to mention me. I’m not at the top of that list. I’m not a two-time MVP, I’ve never made first team All-NBA, I’ve never won anything. So why is there pressure on me to do something when there are guys that have won two MVPs, a bunch of MVPs and haven’t done anything either?

  9. Top-Consequence-911

    Unimpeachable is a little hilarious.

  10. SheepherderFormer343

Nuggets don’t make it to the playoffs last year w/o Jokic and the year before Murray blew out his knee and he still carried them to the second round.

  11. Pilot_G3

This is gunna age like milk when the 7th seed lakers smash them

  12. SteamCleaner23

I never thought this sub would’ve gotten more toxic than lakers/warriors… these post game threads tonight are unreal.

  13. paranoideo

What is going to be the excuse this year?

  14. unclehelpful

The whole higher standard could be covered by Jokic having a better year this year than his two previous MVP seasons which all the talking heads were happy to point out until ‘Perhaps the voters are racist’ idea was floated then he was no good.

  15. electricHats75

How does he not have failures? Y’all love to rewrite history

  16. eagle529

I don’t even know how playoffs chocker is an argument when they had a 3-1 come back twice, that game winner over gobert in game 7 was cold

  17. PapayaBananaHavana

You don’t get it. If you are not dragging facundo Campazzo to the finals you are a failure.

  18. DubsFanAccount

I can’t stand these posts. You can find people that will say anything but I don’t think the general question was ever about Jokic as a postseason failure in terms of stats. The question is about the ceiling and if you can be a championship team with his limitations on defense in the most important defensive position.

So yeah, he’s always performed. But also it’s true that the Nuggets get roasted by scoring guards. Not just Dame, Steph, Harden level guys but Donovan Mitchell put two 50 point games on them. Whether or not you blame Jokic for that or the general lack of surrounding defenders is one question. The other being if it even matters bc he’s so good on offense.

Gosh I hope he stomps the Lakers and goes on to win a title so these threads can end.

  20. manbeqrpig

Oh this truly a glorious day. Jokic and the Nuggets finally getting the respect we deserve

  21. obviously a laker fan, but imagine if jokic was the 3 time mvp playing in the finals this year, embiid’s fraud mvp has denied us the chance at nba greatness unreal, i’m glad kendrick perkins and stephen a made it about race and then zach lowe joined in on that same discussion and followed their garbage takes, fucking dumb as hell

  22. Kdog122025

Dude was a monster against the Warriors last year. 2v5 carry job at its absolute finest. (Aaron Gordon tried his best).

  23. crunchyfrogs

I didn’t realize Jamal Murray wasn’t on the team in 2020. He only scored 25 ppg with 7 assists.

  24. Iamurfriend

I may be biased, but the two best big men in the league are about to go at it. Exciting.

  25. Mark0vian

I don’t understand, should the MVP vote wait until the end of the season? Should the previous playoffs be used in determining MVP for the following season? Why do we do this every year? People have the memory and logical thinking skills of a gold fish.

  26. jumboponcho

That man beat Dame and CJ with fuckin Rivers and Campazzo, let’s be fr. Only reason he didn’t win this year is because the last year was kinda shaky. Tbh this is years the most he’s ever deserved it

  27. SysAdminJT

Please don’t bring Trump and Politics into r/NBA.

Being unimpeachable is nothing to brag about!

  28. rufusjonz

Excuses excuses excuses for everyone all the time, even in advance

    Tell it to MJ

  29. LyonsKing12

I’ve only ever heard people say his defense was a liability in the playoffs.

  30. mikecan314

Embiid won MVP this year, but Jokic is the best big man in the league. That’s clear now
