The Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant from all team activities yesterday after a video surfaced of Morant flashing a gun on a friend’s Instagram Live account. This comes two months after Morant served an 8-game suspension for flashing a gun on his own Instagram Live account. An NBA spokesperson said “We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.” Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react.

I agree for the most part but I think punishment should be an escalation. If you throw the book at everyone, the people who actually want to change get lost in the system without their chance. Did he not deserve that chance to prove himself? One could assume that if someone is making hundreds of millions of dollars, that they would change their behavior. Shannon gave perfect examples with Jay-Z and 50 Cent. Something motivated them to change. Ja got the second chance that I feel he has rights to as a human being and he ruined it so now other measures need to be taken. As a general rule, human behavior can be trained and untrained comparable to dog training. However, the difference between dogs and humans is our secondary motivations. Dogs don’t have that secondary motivation. So basically that is not a hard and set rule. Especially when other humans have undesirable behavior as well “sniff sniff,” but in Ja’s case, he is a hundreds of millions dollar investment so he is a different case than the general population.
