The Raptors Are Making This Harder Than It Needs To Be

The Toronto Raptors are now one of a number of teams looking for a new head coach this offseason but the search could already be over. So far Masai Ujiri and the Raptors’ front office have been patient in their approach to replacing the role left vacant by firing Nick Nurse and have interviewed a number of candidates around the league such as Adrian Griffin and more surprisingly people like JJ Redick. There is no need to rush the search however as the playoffs are beginning to take shape and more head coaches are entering the pool of potential candidates such as Mike Budenholzer, now Monty Williams, and perhaps later on Doc Rivers.

With only four teams remaining in the playoffs it looks like the coaching pool is going to remain as is for the upcoming summer and with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Phoenix Suns, and possibly the Philadelphia 76ers looking for their next coach it is now the ideal time to strike for the Raptors.

I have had my eyes on Jerry Stackhouse and Patrick Mutombo but if the Toronto Raptors are looking to change the culture of the team and put a bigger emphasis on development, if that’s the case there is a clear candidate who stands above the rest.

  1. I agree, I would love to get Monty Williams. He would actually develop our bench unlike Fred, I mean Nurse. I also like Jerry Stackhouse and his disciplined approach. However, what makes you think he wants to be here when there are other openings in Milwaukee and Detroit? Ime Udoka did not want to come near Toronto.

  2. Same as Raps, nowadays in order to sign the big names, gotta pay the big money! No cash to pay bench players! You think he Monty didn't have the players on board, same,,same old song and dance!! No No No Doc Rivers gloom& doom!

  3. Monty Williams? The guy who played KD and Booker all 48 minutes in games in the Nuggets series? He is going to develop our bench?

  4. I knew this would happen…..look, Masai had no plan. This was personal with Nick, that's all, just a hissy fit from Masai. Lets interview Becky, JJ….oh look, Monty now. You know, that guy that got blew out in an elimination game at home 2 years in a row.

Watch what Nick does next year, when he will get the most out of whatrver team he coaches. Mark this post.

Sorry, people that think that Nick needed to go after a 500 record with a meh team……just dont know basektball.

And oh…he didnt devlop young players. What? Then you complain that he got too many loses. This is the NBA….you dont just play guys for the sake of it. Just watch…you think this team is gonna be better next year because u change a coach but Masai's roster barely changes? Watch and learn.

  5. Hey lets get Monty Williams…the guy that took favoured teams, at home, and lost 2 game 7s by a combined, what 55pts? Why not Doc River's…. he's not even thay bad.

  6. Lots of great coaches out there now just pick one and end this drama and move onto finding the players we need.

  7. In the past years he’s just showed me that he’s a good treadmill coach, I’ll pass.
