Joel Embiid, 76ers collapse in Game 7, Jayson Tatum drops historic 51 Pts | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Joel Embiid struggled with 15 points, and James Harden failed to reach double figures in the Philadelphia 76ers Game 7 loss to the Boston Celtics. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes debate if they are surprised the 76ers lost in Game 7 and discuss if Jayson Tatum proved he can carry the Celtics to a title after his 51-point performance.

  1. 76ers don't have a true leader to get tell the team what to do and everyone not dogs on this 76ers and the head coaches don't get on they players to get them going and where the defense at on this team only person play defense is Emiibd and he be tired he got to tell them to play defense u the leader on this team and u support to get everyone in they places

  2. Hey gotta give the props to nick for at least being consistent. He hates being wrong but begrudgingly acknowledges he was wrong

  3. Feel like y’all letting Embiid off the hook. Embiid will not have made it to the conference finals by 30. He is a playoff DROPPER. Shooting, scoring, assists all down, and being targeted on defense. This is on him more than anyone.

  4. I picked Boston to win because Doc Rivers is consistent, and he does everything to keep it that way

  5. Joel Embiid is a Joke. The media won him an MVP but he showed signs he is a Loser and is not a leader from the beginning. He threw his team under the bus while playing like he was asleep for most of the series. What a clown.

  6. Sucks that the MVP voters decided to collectively vote against Jokic instead of just voting for who deserved MVP, everyone involved just looks foolish now.

  7. This series was lost along time ago when the dumb sixers front office selected Markelle Fultz ahead of Jason Tatum

  8. Harden was one of the best scorers before the foul baiting rules changed. Its a big difference.

  9. Skip also likes to say "My turn", did they all start watching too much Yugioh at some point or what?

  10. 6ers , I just wanna thank you. If it wasnt for yall trading up for Markelle Fultz and skipping Tatum , we probably wouldn't be here. Can't believe they didn't keep Butler either.

  11. As a Laker fan, I hate the Celtics. BUT…I picked them to win this series simply because I don't/can't trust Harden or Doc Rivers and in the back of my mind I had a weird feeling that Joel would crumble. Embiid's gotten a lot of passes for the playoff failures (Brett Brown and Simmons) but now he's gotta hold smoke. We expected this from Harden, or at least I did

  12. It's hilarious watching all these media folks scrambling to justify their MVP vote by throwing Harden under the bus😂 you wouldn't even be in a game 6 or 7 without Harden or Maxey's playoff heroics.

  13. No Brussard. You were wrong and you participated in Jokic being robbed of MVP title. And just to give it to the guy that was making 76ers worse during the season. Embiid was taking shots that his guards would score equally or better and therefore 76ers were winning more without Embiid. You are just bunch of basketball ignorants.

  14. Was expecting Nick to bring up some graphic showing how much worse Embiid was in the playoffs compared to regular season, showing historical data about true MVP's elevating their game in the playoffs etc.

  15. To receive the MVP nomination and then, a couple of games later, just stink up the entire arena with his awful play, is just disgusting. I already knew that James Harden isn't very good, but Embiid really let me down.

  16. They gave Embiid the MVP this year because he should of gotten it last year but Jokic should of won this year and not last year

  17. We all blamed Ben Simmons which was fair but I can see why Jimmy Buckets left. How can Embiid not take responsibility of this loss.. How can he say what he said about his team.

  18. Boston was just better. Even though Philly was up 3-2 in the series, once they lost game 6 at home it was over

  19. Joel Embiid is making it a habit of blaming teammates for post season losses. As the leader, it would be better if he had been like 'we need to do better as a team'…etc.

  20. You're predictions career games? They lost by 20…..newsflash idiot It wasn't just Jayson tatum

  21. Careful about expecting too much from Jimmy – Heat barely beat NYC, and Jimmy looks like he is playing hurt after Josh Hart took him out with that slide tackle. He did not play series 2 like series 1.
Celtics are gonna body up on him, and Celtic/NBA refs will give him no whistle.
Heat team must beat Cs team – and Cs starters can all drive and shoot 3s….

  22. This is just a theory but I have seen Harden hoop for a minute. It seems that every game where he sees he can win he 'can' ball out (can, not will). But if he smells defeat. Like if he sees as a chess player in the future to end game status and will declare a draw at move 8. Where everyone says wtf, he just nods and his opponent agrees.

Only in bball you cant declare a loss or draw in the 1st or 3rd quarter after a flagrant (hint). So it looks weird. Now its just a theory, but after a few years thats how it looked to me. And tbf it surprises me that he came as far after the fouls not being fouls anymore. After the quadrupple step taken away.

But still he shouldve hooped like KD shouldve. And they both bailed. And thats the difference between the Kobe's (and even Anthony Edwards and Luka) and them. Theyre the same as the Shaqs and Hardens and KDs and even Tatums. The first 3 will ball out for the crowd. For that 1 fan that paid their last penny. And the last players play for a win, for a check, for ego.

And you can tell me otherwise but I dont believe it anymore cause the facts speak louder.

Ps: the only difference in Tatum is that something awoke within him after seeing Brown take that Flagrant to the face and bleeding like a Nash still wanna ball out. Thats when you see the killswitch flip on. And for every Fan all over the world I hope it doesnt switch oft for 5 years so we can see some beautiful bloody basketball.

  23. Embiid defence was disaster…he was targeted with pick&roll all game…128point def.rating…c'mon man….remember that next year mvp conversation as an argument…

  24. It's funny how most of the blame is put on Doc and Harden. These media dudes need to save their faces, they voted Embiid MVP on the basis of "Jokic never won a chip". Now it turns out that in fact one of the biggest playoff chokers to ever touch a Basketball is Embiid. Never gotten out of 2nd round, never beat a top20 player in the playoffs, always had his stats dropped compared to regular season, blamed other teammates three years in a row now. Embiid is the MVP, if he deserved that one, he deserves all the smoke he's getting.

  25. trade harden for a 3 and D guy and let maxey run the point next season. fire doc and promote sam cassel
