Would you trade Randle for pick #3 (Brandon Miller/Scoot)

Blazers seem keen on trading this pick for a win now piece. Portland lacks a PF. Miller is more of a wing and scoot is more of a Pg so the fits are questionable but worth seeing what y’all think.

Make sure y’all read up. Portland is not trying to rebuild they are trying to contend now. Y’all also act like this has to be straight up but should be implied that would be the “base” of the deal.

Maybe, but we are definitely not getting scoot with the third pick lol

  2. Stomp59

No. Just stop this it isn’t ever happening. These posts are so annoying

  3. ginpachisenseii

Obviously if Portland wants Randle for the #3 pick it’s a no brainer trade. Nothing to even think about. Adding Brandon Miller to the roster would be a dream come true. A wing who can shoot off the dribble and catch and shoot…man

  4. nofapbbby

No? Why would we trade for a rookie. Our luck he’s trash or ends up injured

  5. LimitedBreadsticks26

    Portland would never do that

  6. mouga68

Portland would never make this trade so its irrelevant…. Knicks Homer’s in here saying nO rAnDlE iS bEtTeR tHaN a RoOkIe don’t know the first thing about how nba gms value players

  7. hrashid88

I’ll carry him to Laguardia airport on my back

  8. Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy

JFC here we go with these dumbass posts

  9. mattr1198

I would, but only if Jerami Grant is coming back. We can’t just trade Randle for a hopeful prospect like Scoot or Miller, we’d need to fill that PF position back as well without losing too much in present talent. If we need to throw in one of our “other team” picks (save for Milwaukee’s, that could get massively valuable), I’d still do it

  10. GoldenBoyRecords

The GM of Portland should be fired if they did that but yes thats a no brainer

  11. MrMoistandDelicious

They wouldn’t trade the 3rd pick for randle, you would have to give up another player and more frp

  12. FlockingPigeons

Randle is more valuable than the 3 pick in this class, plus they would have to match salary with a guy like Simons. Miller has plenty of warts in his game that should be acknowledged, like his inability to finish in the paint. He also completely shrunk in the tournament… Sound familiar? Miller isn’t going to help us right now and trading Randle for him would put us in a worse position and further into NBA limbo. If we were going to call Portland it would be about Dame. But that’s unlikely with Brunson on our roster.

Can the mods ban the people coming out against this? They’re clearly trolls

  14. MDEMO3356

I would trade Randall for any first round pick just to get rid of him. He is a great player in the regular season, but a complete, choke artist and non-factor in the postseason. If I could get a top 10 pick for him, I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m pretty sure that the GM from Portland would be fired within 30 seconds of announcing this trade though.

The only reason why I would consider it is because of a longer term vision. Freeing up the cap space to get players that fit the team and actually defend at PF. Offense can come from good shot selection. We aren’t winning a chip with guys barreling into the paint every time and expecting something either. Losing the offense will be a hit, but we also can’t build a team around two iso heavy players. One takes majority difficult shots (that don’t hit in clutch) and isn’t defending, the other is undersized but also effective in offense.

Julius is a good player, but you really need to surround him around a full team of guys that can mask his weakness on defense, and that’s a lot harder when you have an undersized pg who also struggles on defense and shooters who don’t have the wingspan to defend bigs. TBH I don’t care either way, but my gut says the right move is to trade and free up cap space. Making the playoffs is nice, but you also don’t want to look like Philly constantly having expectations and then getting booted the 2nd round either.

  16. JuDaFool

I doubt they’re trading the 3rd pick for an inconsistent playoff no show.

  17. TheDogFacedGremlin

    In Leon I Trust.

First time I can remember us having a strong and competent front office in decades.

Whatever he does, I’m good with it.

  18. kidkuro

We’re a team looking to contend/compete in the playoffs. I’m sure Scoot and Miller will be fine basketball players, but not to the point where they will be major help in a deep playoff run. Maybe after their second or third year in the league. But we need somebody who can contribute to playoff basketball now, not a few years later.

  19. Bababooey98

No. Randle is 2x all nba on a great contract. There is no guarantee that Miller or Henderson will ever be as good as Randle is now. If we traded Randle for a rookie and I was Brunson I would request a trade the next day.

  20. Armisael7

Absolutely not. Why would we trade for an unproven rookie who might not pan out?

  21. Slymook

What’s the best offer someone would seriously make? I see people saying they say no but if they are already not going to the optimal route (a rebuild) so they can chase a completely far out possibility of winning a chip with dame, maybe they would be interested? Unless they’ve watched him play that is. But if they just look at Randles *regular season* stats we might just have a shot

  22. Metfan722

Randle would be on the next flight to Portland before the Trailblazers can even hang up the phone. What kind of question is this?

  23. bsanchey

NBA tanking broke peoples brains. Trade an All NBA player for a rookie after the team had some playoff success and is prime to to jump into contention. No let’s take a step back and pray another rookie is the savior. Instead of building off what we have now.

    People smoke to much crack.

  24. Pinheadlarry29

If a GM traded the 3rd pick for Julius Randle they’d be fired.

  25. macman07

It’s not as clear cut as people are making it seem. Dudes acting like Julius Randle is trash are CLOWNS. Now with that being said, yes I would like to do that, however the Blazers will not accept that. We’d probably have to add a first & another roleplayer.

  26. Swankyyyy

I don’t think it’s such a sure thing that we would do this trade. Randle has disappointing moments but he’s an All-NBA player who just had his best season. We don’t make the playoffs without him. These things are more nuanced than “Randle sucks trade him.”

  27. DurantsAltAccount

People are gonna get upset but Randle is All-NBA. Knicks don’t make it higher than a 7/8 seed without him. He is absolute garbage in the playoffs, but het gets them there. Brunson is good now, RJ looked like he’s good now, Mitch is good now, Hart(s) are good now, Thibs is a win now coach. Trading Randle for #3 (no way Portland accepts) is a good move in a vacuum, but that sets the Knicks back again. Scoot, Miller, etc., aren’t going to be any better than Randle in the playoffs and are going to be worse in the regular season.

Either Randle fixes his playoff performance, or they move him for 75% value in established players hoping they perform playoff time.

  28. Brucewayne75

Even if you held a gun to the Portland’s owner’s head, he wouldn’t do this. One of the worst proposals I’ve ever seen!

  29. T-Bills

    “we can’t win with Randle”

“this team is in win now mode and Randle is perfect for them”

  30. Blazers/Knicks fan here…

Most of the suggestions for the 3rd pick seem to center around folks like Siakam, Bridges, OG, etc. We want stretchy wings who can defend.

  31. HardOakleyFoul

If Portland traded this pick for a 29 year old Randle who shoots like 30% from the field in the playoffs, they’d deserve to be contracted.

  32. RoadToTI420

A Julius Randle is a Julius Randle but the third pick in this draft could be anything, it could even be a Julius Randle!

  33. and1spree

There’s an alarming amount of people who don’t understand the value of a #3 pick in any draft.

  34. Chris_Murphy_Music

I bet they’d consider a package including Randle if Dame reaffirms his commitment to them. I don’t think Randle for #3 would happen, but maybe if you throw in one of the young guys as well, and then some sort of draft compensation, maybe the remaining Dallas pick, or the Milwaukee pick, maybe both. Idk I guess you’d have to be really high on who’s available at #3 whether it’s Brandon Miller or Scoot, and Portland would still have to think they are in a position to be in win now mode. I also only think they would only have the slightest bit of interest in a Randle package if they don’t re-sign Jerami Grant. Not to mention the packages from other teams like Toronto with Siakam and whatever else.

Basically, ehhh idk, there’s a world where maybe they’d consider a Randle package, but a lot of circumstances would have to come together for them to consider. Then we’d have to determine how much we’d be willing to give up/ how much we love the boys at 3.

    Fun idea tho.

  35. Lol people are really going hard at how dumb this is yet the comments are like split down the middle. Weird reading

  36. ThatOtherOtherGuy3

There could be a potential Randle trade to Portland, but this ain’t it. It would be more like Grant and a future pick or assortment of players. The #3 would only go for a special player. Randle is good, he’s not special.
