>”He was very close with coach Rivers and, yeah, he was shocked,” Morey said. It’s my job to help convince him that the new coach is someone that he’ll have a great relationship with as well.”

The first domino in his road to the Knicks has fallen

I wonder how many coaches in history would’ve kept their jobs if it was simply up to the star player or the whole lockeroom voting on it

Yeah, for sure Embiid wasn’t consulted about this.

Reports are Harden wanted Doc out. So that will be interesting to see how that plays out between them two.

There no way he was actually shocked lol

Yeah, it’s kind of an exaggeration that the majority NBA players dislike Doc. Obviously, there are some who criticize him openly, but Pierce, KG, Rondo, Perkins, Embiid, TMac, and others are fond of him.

  7. Morey really making the sixers the new rockets. Morey must *really* love harden

Embiid might like Doc, but at least now he might have a chance of getting out of the 2nd round.

Joel seems to build good relationships with his coaches. Him and Brown were pretty close too from what I know.

    he’ll get over it lol

No way they didn’t tell Joel they weren’t going to fire Doc

Plot twist – Harden is going to stay, Joel is going to demand out.

Trade Embiid for Simons, Sharpe and the #3 pick

Fire up the photoshops of Joel in others team’s jerseys

I like Embiid but I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if this is Morey laying on a PR smokescreen given he is incredibly tactical with his media engagement.

Interested to hear if any reporters publish anything else providing more context.

The cynic in me thinks Morey is putting this out there to make sure Embiid doesn’t start to take criticism as a “coach killer.”

Maybe you want to play with your good friend Jimmy Butler in Miami.

Rondo, KG, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen carried Doc Rivers entire coaching career.

Morey: Harden will choose our next coach

Probably shouldn’t have blown that playoff series then big guy

Yea well, I am not very happy with Embiid being a little bitch in the playoffs. Hiring a coach who will actually yell at Embiid and tell him to get his ass down low instead of taking lazy 3s.

Now when Embiid loses, people can’t blame the coach

Embiid liked Doc, but not enough to will his team to a competitive 3rd quarter in game 7

I mean I’d be mad too if the coach that enabled me to blame others was fired lol
