He has huge potential if anyone watched him play at Duke but he’s considered a project.. I say Warriors package their 19th pick in a trade. We have too many young players on this team already fighting for minutes and will get worse next season depending on how PBJ pans out.

I think we’ve seen that we don’t need young, athletic big men

[I like Sam Vecenie’s mock better](https://theathletic.com/4513228/2023/05/16/nba-draft-lottery-mock-draft-wembanyama/) – Jalen Hood-Schifino. 20 year old 6’6 wing from Indiana. His fit reasoning made more sense than KOC’s for Lively

    > The Fit: It’s three-fold. First, the Warriors tend to like well-rounded prospects who contribute in multiple capacities. Second, the team has tended to draft younger in recent years. All of Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, Patrick Baldwin, James Wiseman, Nico Mannion, Alen Smailagić and Ryan Rollins were teenagers when the Dubs picked them, and Jordan Poole turned 20 one week before being picked. Speaking of Poole, the team needs to make a real decision on him this summer. But if he’s gone, there is a real question of ballhandling depth behind Stephen Curry. Hood-Schifino would tick that box.

Dude hairline as bad as Derrick white

  5. So…. James Wiseman 2.0?

Those comments in the “MINUS” sound all too familiar.

Get a 4 year starter. Any 4 year starter with size ?

  7. billymartinkicksdirt

We didn’t do so hot with our last Duke pick.

  8. portugamerifinn

He’s a rim protector who can switch defensively and not get lost on the perimeter, and he has a chance to be special on that end.

Wiseman has no feel on defense and little chance away from the basket – that ain’t Lively.

    Sign me up!

  9. doctorweiwei

Feels like everyone is already forgetting the reasons Wiseman failed. We want to do it again apparently

  10. Crypto_Ninjaaa

Drafting a freshman means he sits for 3-4 yrs under Kerr right?

  11. ProfessorLazuli

I mean, we do need the size and defense.

  12. 222thedome

I never trust Kevin O’Connor’s draft takes

  13. 2017Champs

Unless Kerr comes out and guarantees Kuminga, Moody and PBJ will all be part of the rotation I see no reason why they should keep with this pick rather than trading it for a rotation guy. Last year they had 6 guys who were not regular contributors. When you have a roster with 3 important players over 30 all of which have a recent history with injuries, plus another guy in Looney who also has a bit of an injury history you can’t afford to have that many guys who don’t contribute.

  14. Top5hottest

No more projects. Players that can come in and add something.

  15. BeyondSensitive6298

    We don‘t need another project.

  16. electricHats75

He fills a need. He was projected as a top pick. Was his year at Duke that bad?

  17. McJumbos

ngl aint trying to experience Willie Cauley Stein again…

  18. taygads

Lol a freshman?? The Ringer telling on itself and how they know absolutely nothing/don’t pay attention at all to how the Warriors operate. Kerr would quit on the spot if they drafted another teenager with no college experience. Be forreal

  19. Benny3Bracelets

They need to package these picks and young players into useful role players to fill out this roster with the little cap we have OR Kerr has to trust these young guns to develop over the season. If we keep all our youth and this pick then maybe we cut back on our older groups regular season minutes. Still though, can you trust Poole to bounce back and Kuminga, Moody and the 19th pick to develop into what we need by the playoffs?

  20. Consistent_Stage_198

They should just trade all their picks for veterans since they can’t develop young guys.

  21. typesett

    KRIS MURRAY

we can’t afford any wings for the next decade so stockpile and develop

  22. Necroassassin32

    I’d rather take Leonard Miller.

  23. Mygaffer

Another big man project? Man, I don’t know, but I don’t usually follow players until they hit the NBA so I have no idea what this years crop of players look like.

  24. Mygaffer

I hope everyone realizes now that young players don’t help you win championships.

No 19 or 20 year old will help the Warriors win for at least a couple seasons, at which point our main guys will be aging out and the team won’t be truly contending without some kind of big free agent get.

We’re still a month away though so I’m sure there will be a lot more coverage of prospects and mock drafts once the finals are over.

  25. sadlytheguyisnogood

Kris Murray should be our pick.

#My opinion is if you want what you think Dereck Lively can be… you’re better off buying a second rounder and taking who Ryan Kalkbrenner is.

This is the last season you can buy a draft pick cuz the draft occurs in the ’23 LY.

A 7-1 big 7-6 wingspan with all the size and mobility of Lively plus a multi time conference DPOY and someone who already plays excellent drop coverage defense. He actually attacks hard as a roll man. He’s two full years ahead of Lively and you can TWC him and test him out for no cost. Lively will cost 15-20M in tax penalties.

You could get Kalkbrenner with the 40th pick. Light in the pants yeah but so is Lively.

Or get a guy who averaged 5 ppg 5 rpg as the most physically imposing freshman in the country.

    Kalkbrenner is a fiery competitor.

Lively I’m not sure he want to touch the ball on offense at all ever ever ever. They make him do it.

If they pick him I’ll grit my teeth and say. “Not all bigmen struggle like Wiseman. Maybe it won’t happen twice” but you really wanna chance it with the depth at wing and forward in this draft.

LFGGGGGGGGGGG, I mentioned getting a big in the draft a couple months ago and everybody tried to down play it like having a big is “whatever” but this is a good step in the right direction as long as he can do simple big things like catch lobs, rebound, defend the rim, set screens & run the floor he’ll be in golden state a long time

  28. shinsplints5

Could this be a wiseman situation again?

I like us trading for a big man and drafting Leonard miller. Like his size and he, just like kuminga, whom will be gone in the trade, played in the Gleague.

  29. ughasadad

I think they should bite the bullet and get him. We don’t have the most amount of cap space in the world and we want to get better, especially defensively, quick. For that sole reason of it being a cost effective decision, I think they should give the kid an actual shot, unlike what they did to Wiseman.

I know we’re in an era where we want to maximize the most out of Steph’s career, but I really do think that if you give many of these younger players consistent minutes throughout the season, they’ll show up when it matters the most.

    I’d do it.

  30. elpeezey

How many players that scored 5 ppg in college amount to anything in the NBA?

  31. fattyfondler

We love highly touted recruits who havent met expectations
