getting 3 second round picks was still a bad trade.
TBF you are still right though but I would rather have traded Kuzma (who might want 30+ million per year) over Rui.

I’ll always say, he made himself expendable once he dipped on his teammates. In my view (and I followed the situation pretty damn close) the team treated him like a king during that time. Including WUJ. So once he wanted a bigger role, which he deserved, if he couldn’t wait for them to give it to him and his contract situation and Kuz’s obviously being better than him, didn’t afford him and the team more time to wait, it is what it is.
I’d LOVE it if we could all come together like in the meme. It’d be nice to have a healthy disposition about how this went down, so we don’t have to continue the same go-around where people lie and say he was trash or people like and say he was treated like trash. Indeed as op says, he was a quality player, but the trade ultimately was going to happen because of the circumstances.

You guys had a logjam at the forward spot and decided to pay Kuzma over retaining Rui. Makes sense. Kuzma’s much further ahead and a better player today. Rui, on the other hand, has some serious potential and is one of the few legitimate post scorers in the game today. At his peak, I think Rui could average 18-20 points and 7 boards.

The problem was not trading rui when his value was high or after the Lakers trade.
Basically deprecated his value for no reason.

That was a horrible trade to begin with. And no this isn’t hindsight since everyone was shitting the trade at the time

Lol you guys are crazy. Not a wizards fan, awful trade, guy can clearly ball. Starting level player for a good team in the league with potential for more. You got fleeced by the lakers, trades like this why Washington remains a at the bottom of the league. Shame as the brand and DC have potential to be a solid NBA market….

We should have traded him earlier……
