Fitness + different game (pace is high now but insane before the 80s). Wilt played entire games and the # of possessions per game was typically 130 vs 100 now. No 3 pt line either.

He’s not a great rebounder for his size, to start.

Skill. He’s a seven foot softie with no ability to use his power. Took him a year to figure out how to turn around and catch the ball in a pick and roll. I still can’t believe they gave him an mvp.

It’s because he doesn’t have that fire and passion. Some of these other players do and it shows on the court, even if they aren’t a household name.

Embiid …
He has no passing skills, and although he can defend and block, he isn’t fast enough to actually make steals…

Mostly because it’s a completely different game. But for the assists it’s because for all of his other talents, Embiid’s late start seems to mean he doesn’t “think the game” enough to be that prolific of a distributor.

What’s stopping Embiid is the same thing that has stopped every other player in NBA history from doing that – he isn’t Wilt Chamberlain.

Wilt was a literal Goliath of his time. The disparity in talent and height between him and most players in the league at that time was significant. He had a full five inches on the average center of his time and almost 10 inches on the average player. While Embiid is clearly one of the best players in his league, the talent and height disparity is not nearly as far apart as it was in Wilt’s time.

This is attainable for Embiid against 6th graders. Probably doesn’t have the stamina to keep with with them for those 8 min quarters

We ended up beating the lakers by 30 points with a final score of 158 to 128 https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/196803180PHI.html

Let’s get him over to Taiwan and make it happen 8D
The sudden lack of a 3 point line.
Wilt had heart and desire to win.
Not near the athletic ability of WILT.
What a shitpost

That Joel Embiid doesn’t exist anymore. That’s what’s stopping him.
It’s 2023 not 1968.
Wilt choked more than Embiid… a big part of this fanbase would still want him gone.
Significantly more talent in the league? Also not being Wilt?
Who da fuck was guarding him? Muggsy’s dad
There wasn’t even a three point line when he did this. To say it was a completely different game feels like an understatement.
He’s soft. If he went to the basket strong like other big men he would be unstoppable.
It would help if he stayed in the paint. Live there. Breathe there. Become the paint. Instead, we have him hanging out beyond the arc…
