Hollinger says the Bridges rumors don’t make sense for the Nets

IDK, it seems like a lot of smoke for nothing, but Hollinger thinks it is unrealistic.

Honestly at this point just do whatever you can to get those 2024 and 2026 picks back from the Rockets. I want to rebuild properly for once.

This “tanking” narrative is driving me crazy. The whole concept of getting the Portland package is that you basically outsourced the tanking, and are purely reaping the rewards.

If you do this trade, we’re essentially where the Orlando Magic are right now. Two young exciting potential blue chip prospects, and are just getting ready to turn the corner and take the next step. We wouldn’t be bottoming out for multiple years. It would be one growth year, and then you really start making win now moves.

That’s what I’m pushing. I know there’s a lot of hype from both sides, but honestly makes no sense to me. Why we wanna go straight to being the rockets for 5+ years when could at least be an attractive place for FAs and have some kind of dignity for a while. I don’t wanna watch shit ass basketball do u?

What if we traded Bridges to the Rockets for at least some of our picks? Bridges would make a ton of sense for the Rockets if they’re looking to compete and it would allow us to tank and fully rebuild.

His point is defeated by the fact that a Bridges trade could very well involve BKN getting their picks back from HOU. Hollinger often does not seem to be entirely there when it comes to FO strategy. Good stats guy tho I guess.

    I’ve been saying this.

Organizations want to keep players like Mikal Bridges around, he’s only 26, terrific teammate, 2-way player. I wouldn’t do #3 and Anfernee Simons for him. He’s better than Simons and I think Scoot is gone by #3.

Something I never quite understood. We traded the picks. What does it matter? If it’s the last pick in the first round or the first pick. What is done is done. As to the swaps, if you win your pick is lower your pick won’t get swapped. If you lose and they have a better record you swap the pick. It could have been the same pick if you had won or at least close enough. It’s not worth not going with a youth movement especially when you have a good idea how good they can be. Am I wrong?

If you genuinely think the Nets should trade Bridges for picks, just take a break from watching basketball.

I agree, I don’t think it makes much sense for us or for Portland either. Don’t forget, we’ve rebuilt before without lottery picks. there are some teams rebuilding for years still in the lottery. knicks had multiple lottery picks and are any of them franchise cornerstones? fans are dogging RJ. Ntilikina and Knox are role players.

So there are other avenues to rebuilding besides tanking. We’ve done it before.

I’ve never seen the Nets have a high draft pick in my life so I’m all for trading Mikal for #3 and a guy like Sharpe.

That would be a dream plus I don’t like this team at all.
