The Bucks head coaching candidate list continues to swell but what should we expect from the assistant coaching staff that also appears to be heading for change? Could an offensive specialist work as an assistant? Are some of the candidates in line to join the wider staff? Also, can the Bucks get younger this offseason? Could they trade into the first round? Is it a big season for MarJon Beauchamp? Kane and Justin discuss the topics of the day before finally chatting about the run of the Miami Heat and wondering how it makes Bucks fans feel..

This was one of my disappointing aspects of the season. This young guy showed athleticism a better offensive repertoire than anticipated. I think he's a good defensive player. He played a lot the 1st 2 months, and then bud just let him sit wasted his. Rookie season, in my opinion,i think he was the 2nd most athletic buck on the team next to giannis. I'm watching the Sacramento kings. Play there, Iowa. rookie marjon could have been getting 10/15 minutes during the playoffs.
Moving up for Scoot signals a second act for Giannis, they would definitely still compete. Agree with you, Kane.
I find the "problem" about athleticism to move in the realm of myth. It has to do with how you approach the defense and the offense, the physical condition of the players is a matter for the coach. The Bucks had good athletes. Boston is not more athletic for example. Also with Miami and Butler, never forget who gave them the confidence…Bud, same goes for the Toronto series, everyone ,except Kawhi, was playing awful before the Bucks series and Buddresurrected them all to win after the Warriors. If you have a psychological issue, an open shoot hitting Bud's stupid defense systems like you're training always helps.
i was watching the miami game yesterday, without any bias, but over time it felt like you can't root against a team that plays this way. yes they shoot well but it's the hustle, they go for every ball and they go faster, they were playing their game, and i didn't saw fear or confusion any point, even when boston took a lead in the 3rd quarter. i know it's just one game but i think that's the east bball, that's how you play a "better team". from the beginning they made clear to those young boston superstars, they gonna have to sweat a lot to put them down, this attitude can give you the confidence to shoot well, but for having that attitude, the talent is not enough, you must feel the better or at least equally trained, fast, strong. and then i picture the bucks series and i remember some young men beating some old boys (that's where darvin leaving hurt, he has the mentality and he's very close n' supportive to the players). so what i think afterall, is for a team to compete the first priority should be, to be and feel competitive and ready for any situation on the court. so i think, maybe this team needs a trainer or something, maybe they should stop lifting weights and using machines and start running till they dry. it's obvious they lack mobility and some endurance, they're not that old (unless kris is destroyed) they are pro athletes they should figure it out…(ah, and maybe now we see what a loss donte was). as for the coach, though we don't have a saying, as i see it everyone after bud may looks as a downgrade, but maybe just the change alone is needed and works out. the psychology must be all time low level, lets hope the shock (and seeing miami was not the typical 8 seed) will work for the better, like 21 when they had also lost the series against them, and the younger guys understand what it means to play in a team that has won a championship. and though those should not be a coach's matters, maybe those problems should be the guide constructing the new coaching stuff..?
I’m watching both conference finals supporting Miami as ultimately don’t want the Celtics to win. Hoping Denver beat the Lakers and would love Joker and the Nuggets to win the championship.
The heat not sucking makes me feel better, yes.
It makes a lot of sense as they were the 1st seed last season ending with a game 7 loss in the ECF. Of course they're a great team.
They coasted through the regular season which was a bit of trickery…
I know assistant coaches work with groups of players on their development. It's critical we have someone who is able to work on shooting form and shot selection. In addition, we need someone who can help develop out younger stars. I'm just ready to know who the coach is so I can start to adjust lol
That was an interesting point about the “athleticism and speed” of the team, considering teams like Denver and Lakers and even the heat though, I can’t believe those teams are more athletic or quicker than the Bucks. That had to be a Bud system artifact.
The comment on how the Heat develop second round picks is valid though, Bucks have done a poor job of that so far. Although AJ Green looked like a bucket this season, would be good to see if he can develop to a Struss or Martin role for the Bucks.
I knew by thumbnail that Justin was the other host…
Seens like teams that prioritize scouting, player development and synergy between the front office and the coaching staff will be successful under the new CBA, reminds me of the Heat, Warriors and possibly the Thunder.
Couple of reasons why Im rooting for miami (Nuggets a close 2nd) to win it from the remaining teams. Most of it are biased of course.
1) Dont want celtics winning cos their fanbase has been giving bucks fan shit since last season so them winning it would mean we will never hear the end of it.
2) dont want lakers to win because it will bring out more lebron fanboys arguing his GOAT case, which I still think is MJ hands down.
3) Heat over Nuggets because of the jokic vs giannis convo. I'm a huge giannis fan and Jokic winning a ring + FMVP puts his case on par/ over giannis in terms of accomplishments.
4) After all these years of jimmy butler balling in the playoffs, I think he deserves a ring, playing with the most heart out of all the remaining contenders.
I know a few players shown frustration at their role ( jae crowder, marjon perhaps) the past season, but I do hope a new coach will better integrate them to the system. It is criminal that they went out their way to acquire crowder but Bud as always under utilized him. Same goes for marjon. Bud was notorious for under utilizing newer talent.
I was glad to hear Justin say would should poach from Miami's scouting and player development staff. I've been thinking the same thing since watching them against the Bucks.
Don't forget about AJ Green. I liked what little I saw of him at the end of the season. I hope he gets a chance to develop. I would have rather seen him signed to a full contract than signing Goran Dragic. I hope the Bucks get a coach that is committed to player development. Anyone remember that Christian Watson was on the Bucks roster for a year? And no more trading young players and draft picks for veteran castoffs, this was successful only 1 time in the past 4 seasons.
The only bad thing I have to say for this podcast the last 3 or so years I've been listening to it, is Justin's hat we don't like City mate 🙄
Miami are doing everything the Bucks couldn't in terms of coaching. Consistent, playing to their strengths, minimising weaknesses, avoiding injuries day in day out. So if you are out for a Q, they gonna get you. Simple.
It’s amazing to see Miami do what they do with their roster 😮.
Nurse strikes me as having a similar MO as Bud. Bud was successful at ATL who became incredibly disillusioned after their FO gutted a playoff team to "go young". Bud didn't want any part of that and was gone. Nurse seems to have fallen into the same predicament where TOR won a championship and then the FO gutted the team and left him with what seemed like a team of nothing but 4's. Maybe Nurse had some other warts but he definitely knows how to coach in the playoffs.
If Brandon Miller is around a #3, MKE would NOT be calling it over. With that said it would take a fairly decent haul to get that pick.
The Bucks should try to get Jordan Poole. There is rumors that GS might want to move on from him. I would offer Marjon Beauchamp. The upside of Poole is way higher then Beauchamp. The Bucks need scoring to help out Giannis.
I would also look to trade Holiday. Yes defense is his strength (although Butler torched him) but he is way too inconsistent on offense…he also can be careless with the ball. Now is the team to trade him because there will be a market for him…maybe for some first round picks or a player.
I don’t really want to see the Bucks trade Portis but if the right deal is out there they have to consider it.
The Bucks have to make some moves because I don’t agree with NBA analysts that this team as constructed can still contend. A couple of right moves could greatly improve the team and energize Giannis.
