I got this trade stuck in my head and I keep thinking about how something like this make sense for everybody. At #11 I would take Cason Wallace (Beast defender who can shoot and pairs perfectly with Shaedon long term). I know the opinions on Ayton vary and some of you want nothing to do with him, but if “sources” are to be believed Portland like him and has been kicking the tires on a deal.

I don’t see the Magic giving up a pick for Anfernee. They’ve already got 3-4 guards developing on their roster already. Don’t think they’d value him that highly when they can just keep their picks and their players and stay their course.
Ayton is one of those “just no” guys. Yes he has flashed. Yes he was a #1 overall pick.
But that guy just doesn’t have “it”
Are we also trading Dame in this scenario? Legit question, since this doesn’t bring the team any closer to contention but does give interesting bigs on a youth timeline to have around

I really like this deal. Helps to balance the roster and also keeps other assets, and actually gives us another pick to move forward with. This way if we have to trade the 3 (I kinda wanna keep it) we’d have pick 11 to add a rook. Or we could draft at 3 and trade 11 and other firsts after unlocking picks with chicago. Only tough part is we’d lost most of our players used to match salary to acquire others.
I totally understand your point. My valuation is different. I’m not sure what Portland’s value on him is…but that Ahton for #3 rumor freaked me out. I thought if they’ve opened discussions, they must like him.

Dame/Sharpe/Miller(hopefully)/Siakam/Ayton
