[Chiang] An important part of the Heat’s winning formula during this year’s playoffs, they continue to win the non-Jimmy and non-Bam minutes: Without Bam on court in playoffs: +3.7 points per 100 possessions Without Jimmy on court in playoffs: +10.8 points per 100 possessions

Wait but I though it was the Jimmy Butler show and he was leading shitty undrafted scrubs who dont belong in the NBA?

  2. alwayssprecise

A lot of people give too much credit to Jimmy (obviously our best player of course), but he hasn’t really need to carry us. The whole roster is productive. Why you think after the first 3 possessions Jimmy was getting double teamed the Heat still kept on scoring? Guys like Duncan, Gabe, Love, Max, Cody, Martin, and all the other stepped up and show heart. And you can’t teach heart

  3. orphicwitch

yeah that’s what killed us. they didn’t have to rely on one guy to keep the momentum going while we lost whatever little lead we had the second jalen was subbed out. jimmy rightfully gets a lot of attention for being a playoffs beast but this entire heat team is something else man

Still one of the weirdest playoff runs I can remember

  5. also +112 points per 100 possession without Herro

I’m excited for heat-nuggets finals. Will be the most team-oriented matchup since the 2005 pistons-spurs matchup

  7. PassionV0id

When Jimmy is off the court, it is more likely that the other team’s star is also off the court.

  8. ElectroStaticSpeaker

So what he’s saying is they should bench Jimmy & Bam. Guaranteed victory.

Just wanted to mention something that hasn’t been talked about at all during the Heat’s run: lots of these guys are undrafted. Now you know.

The twitter image has a shot of espresso and its leading me to believe that Jimmy has been pulling god shots before games and the whole team is filled with magic because of it.

The bench mob of Caleb, Dunc, and The Thiccness have been fantastic all postseason. Next to Jimmy they’ve been the Heat’s biggest strength

  12. ZeroMomentum

So we seeing Jimmy with 3rd stringers beating the wolves irl

  13. Efficient_Delivery47

Sounds like the Heat should just bench Jimmy & Bam

When do they erect the statue of Spo?

  15. Winged_Wrath

Are the Heat better without Jimmy Butler? /s

  16. Wilbert_51

Jimmy is expendable? Maybe the league should swap Jimmy and Tobias Harris to see who really deserved the max from the Sixers?

  17. noscope360widow

Makes me really worry about non jokic minutes. We haven’t played a team with a strong bench yet this playoffs.

  18. TheLoneliestMonke

To summarize, that’s a well coached team

  19. RatLord445

I hope this stops the “jimmy is carrying” shit, this is a complete and extremely well built team

When Gabe Vincent and Caleb Martin are balling out like prime Splash Brothers, not much you can do

Miami’s role players dont get enough credit. I get that everyone likes Jimmy butler, I do as well, and he’s played outstanding in these playoffs of course, but this run hasn’t been “Jimmy butler vs the world” like a lot of people frame it. It’s not Jimmy butler carrying a bunch of bums through the playoffs. Miami has quite a bit of depth and certified ballers on the squad. Every player is capable of popping off and having a career night, every players has a role on the team and performs it well.

I still find it crazy that 76ers didn’t want to keep Jimmy Butler when he made the gear running at that team.

Not to disparage the Heat supporting cast at all, because obviously they’re doing well, but it’s a little more nuanced than that…when Jimmy sits, the opposing team will usually sit their best players too…so if the Heat supporting cast outperform the opponent’s, then that’s a major + difference.

But just because Jimmy’s + isn’t that high, doesn’t mean he is failing, it just means the Heat are taking the opponent’s uppercuts and right hooks with Jimmy in, while the Heat are taking the opponent’s jabs when Jimmy is out.

Their shot making in these playoffs is really not being talked about enough. You rarely see a team go from bottom of the league in a category to top 2 or 3. That’s like the Rockets making the playoffs this year and being the best defense in the playoffs lol.
