There’s too many teams and too little talent. Unfortunately the middle ground contracts don’t really happen because if we don’t max another team will.

  2. Ronshol

I feel bad for Tyrese and I actually think he’s worth a max but I think we should try and fleece him if possible.

  3. CaptainButtFucker

Is the owner really going to want to pay Maxey, Harden, Embiid, and Tobias?

  4. EconomyInside7725

Can’t pay Tobias, Harden and Maxey. Of the three I’d rather pay Maxey and ditch the other two. I’d try to pay Maxey a bit less but if they believe in him, it’s time to build around him and Embiid and see how far that can go.

Reading comments on posts like this really reveal how little people understand basketball and the NBA

Lol. Crazy. If Harden leaves, no way he can be the playmaker the team would need. Unless they’re going to primarily just put shooters around Embiid. If not I think you have to trade him. Imagine if his 3pt shooting was just average or a little above average. He most likely wouldn’t be part of the starting lineup.

  7. Philly0024

Umm nah, don’t need another Tobias type contract

  8. dabirds1994

He’s 22 and keeps getting better. He obviously didn’t have a great series against the Celtics, but come on.

  9. TheLargestQuiver

Won’t he just become a RFA if we don’t extend this summer? I say wait and let the free market decide. Our cap will look a lot different next summer

Everyone in here is crazy, he’s a homegrown talent who can score in bunches and has shown improvement every year. Literally everything you’re looking for to give a player a 2nd deal.

  11. dabigchina

I honestly had no idea guys coming off of their rookie scale contracts were even eligible for this much money.

All the playmaking concern people need to chill. That is by far the hardest thing to learn at the NBA level, the game just move so fast. Most really great passers didn’t become great until later on in their careers. The defense is a bigger concern for me, especially because he is on the smaller side.

How much did hero make? That should be about what Maxey should make

  14. TheProcess316

Whatever, just give it to him. It can’t possibly turn out worse than the Tobias contract and the Sixers need a happy thing to happen lol

You can tell Maxey has learned a bunch this past season from Harden. He’s only 22 and continually gets better. This kid is worth it.

  16. Morey probably wants to give it to harden 🥴

People are very quick to declare a 22 year olds ceiling when they really have no idea:

    Maxey (22 years old): 48/43.4/84.5 20.3 PPG
    Poole (23 years old): 43/33.6/87 20.4 PPG
    Herro (23 years old): 43.9/37.8/93 20.1 PPG

Neither Poole nor Herro has ever shot 45% from the field or 40% from 3 in any season

    For fun:
    Lillard (at age 23): 42.4/39.4/87.1 20.7 PPG
    Steph (at age 22*): 48/44.2/93.4 18.6 PPG
*steph age 23 season injured most of year
    Harden (at age 22): 49.1/39/84.6 16.8 PPG
    Jaylen Brown (at 22) 46.5/34.4/65.8 13 PPG

Note: not comparing him to all these players just notable to look at their numbers at age 22. Yes Maxey is undersized but so are lillard Steph etc

Idk 200 mill is a lot for someone who’s kryptonite is a tall athletic defender but the min he’s matched up with an actual guard he destroys them. I can’t really see the value in paying a guy 40 mil a year to guy who’s essentially a sixth man

I love Maxey but not sure a max contract is warranted here. I feel like the Sixers need more discretion when it comes to giving out that kind of money. Legit, superstars only. Maybe I’m overly cautious because of the Tobias and Simmons deals.

  20. On these types of contracts, a large part of it is potential. Sometimes you hit on Jalen Brunson after everyone calls you insane for giving him a monster deal before he’s really a max player, then sometimes you miss on Jordan Poole and everyone calls you insane before and after.

We also need to realize that a max player isn’t the same as it was even 5 years ago. Most contracts going to players with All Star potential are going to be max deals these days. Shit, we’ve seen non-starters get max deals. While Maxey honestly isn’t a max player right now, there are only a handful of young players in the league on their rookie deals that I’d take over him.

If we don’t max him, somebody else will in a heartbeat.

  21. NDubbaYa

If they fumble on Maxey, we’ll lose and deserve to lose just like we fucked up with Butler.

  22. Serpico2

I love Maxey but if he’s getting close to the max, trade him somewhere that wants to pay him that. He can’t pass. If you’re paying a true shooting guard the max he needs to be able to take over games. Someone like Devin Booker, Kobe, etc (no, DB isn’t Kobe, I’m just saying, in that vein).

  23. allinasecond

We keep getting hostage of contracts.

  24. PantherGod772

    PAY THE MAN.

On a serious note I think Tyrese can hit All Star level with the right coach and right playmakers on the team. He should be shooting 10-12 threes a night but Doc never had that kind of scheme going to really unlock him…and he still averaged 20 lol

  25. Badtrip9817

HOw many people worried about giving this contract to Tyrese are all ready to give to a player who spent the entire offseason breaking down physically before our eyes.

I’m not hugely for this deal but seriously doubt it would be close to as harmful to the Sixers as giving the same feal to James this summer.

  26. TheRynosaurus

It would be very Sixers to lowball him and lose him to free agency.

  27. TheArsenal7

I’m just gonna say it the nba contract and cap system is garbage. Worst in any pro sport
