This is the NBA’s worst nightmare. A potential finals matchup between Miami and Denver would absolutely destroy the TV rankings. But if you’re a true basketball fan you should be very happy.
Let me explain why, and how it even got to this point. Let’s get into it.
At the start of the conference finals, there was a realistic possibility that we could see a Lakers vs Celtics showdown at the end.
This would have been the perfect scenario for Adam Silver. A historic marquee matchup and more importantly superstar firepower. Tatum and Brown vs Lebron and AD.
But we are seeing that big names on paper mean nothing. You gotta go out and actually win the game.
The Heat are the perfect example of that. Literally everyone expected them to be swept in the first round. They got a bit lucky with Giannis missing 2 games, but Miami totally deserved to be here.
Jimmy Butler is playing like a man possessed, averaging 29.9 PPG , 6.7 RPG and 5.6 APG these playoffs. Thing is, it’s not just him.
Even the role players like Gabe Vincent. Everyone remembers this shot from Jimmy to take it to overtime but it was Vincent who had a huge crucial three point shot to extend the game.
Then in game 2 against the Celtics he calls his own number here and ices the game. 1-1 and 2-0 series is a completely different story.
How about Caleb Martin who seemingly cannot miss a shot averaging 19 points per game on blistering 63% from the field in this conference finals.
And we are just now finding out that he was almost out of the league if it wasn’t for his friend J.Cole using his connections and lobbying for him with the Heat.
Last night Duncan Robinson also woke up and showed us that he can still play as well.
Remember this is a team that didn’t have Victor Oladipo for the playoffs and also lost Tyler Herro. Miami just digs up new guys to come in and perform.
How about Miami’s likely finals opponent, the team that nobody talks about.
The thing that I said about Golden State last season is true for Denver right now.
They play alien basketball, different from any team in the league. The execution is on a completely different level.
Jokic is averaging a triple double. A 30 point triple double for the entire playoffs, that’s ridiculous. Combine that with his incredible efficiency of 54.4% from the field and 47% from downtown, he’s been unstoppable.
Speaking of that, Jamal Murray is averaging 35 points per game right now against the Lakers, and last game was a frightening reminder that he always delivers on a higher level in big games in the playoffs.
Seriously, there was a moment where I’m sure Jamal had an out of body experience because what he was doing in that first half was completely unreal.
And same as the Heat, it seems like every game there’s a big performance from either one of Bruce Brown, KCP and Michael Porter Jr. Each of them is close to averaging 15 points per game against the Lakers. That’s a total team effort.
So, with both series being 3-0, it’s apparent that this is the finals matchup. And while it doesn’t have a lot of glitz and glamor that some other teams would offer, the basketball that these 2 teams are playing is 100% pure. Execution, effort and all around teamwork. Just the way it should be.
I know I’m looking ahead but from everything we’ve seen- it’s just a matter of formality. Talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

The Finals would finish at Game 7 and one of them would win it and I can't decide which😅
Mental toughness, culture, and coaching have been the story. Doesn’t matter what talent you have if they don’t play winning basketball
I dont get ratings. The ULTIMATE UNDERDOG STORY of the Heat is WWE like storytelling. How is Butlers comeback not good for ratings?
Eat it now to early to judge duncan 🎉clown heat check
I would love to see #8 seed win all
Believe it or not, a lot of people LOSE INTEREST in the Finals when it's the same ass stale teams that it always is. I think A TON of people are excited to see who wins their first ring, joker from batman or batmans butler.
Giannis missed closer to 3 but still EVERYONE thought even without Giannis, that the Bucks would win…. Everyone was wrong…. Super wrong
Maybe it’s because I hate the Celtics but Brown and Tatum don’t feel like superstars to me. They feel like really good players on an okay team.
Plus they are in the east. Yawn.
They rigged the Warriors to lose and this is what they ended up with. Its the NBA's own fault.
the heat are a welcome suprise, but denver vs lakers was clear as day. The nuggets expose all the lakers weaknesses
Vapid emotional nonsense based on speculation and mindless social media narrative.
Calling denver miami's likely opponent is BEYOND stupidity, denver's the MUCH better team and are sweeping miami in the finals, you are just too stupid to show respect
Denver vs miami is FAR more entertaining than lakers vs celtics, Denver is the best and toughest team in the league, and miami is a decent team but the lakers and celtics are soft as hell and are full of flopping bums
Playing like a man possessed? Jimmy Butler has been HIM. That's just what he does.
Mad props to both teams but yeah, nobody's gonna watch those finals. No 100k courtside seats
Jokic is coming, prepare
Lakers v Celtics booooo
I knew from the get go if GS lost I was gonna be cheering for Jimmy 😤😤
Nice vid
Its going to be another finals exit.
This is gonna be the best finals since the 2016 finals
Honestly this is a lesson the league needed. GRIT WINS GAMES. The league was getting soft.
1:04 2:23 Jokic is .1 points away from joining them
You are a bonified HEAT HATER. STOP.
Go watch his videos about "exposing Jimmy Butler". You and ESPN are the same.
The only game the bucks won was game 2. Giannis was out.
A champion team beats a team of champions this year. Great to see.
I was literally just typing that they play pure team ball when you used the word pure to describe them.
Nuggets vs Heat is way more historic than Lakers vs Celtics. Denver has never gotten to the finals let alone win, they are showing the league that team basketball is highly effective. Then you got JBs redemption arc, plus a possible historic record of the #8 seed beating both #1 seeds to win the Championship. Either way it means more than just getting a ring for these teams
The RATINGS is GOING to be MUCH better THAN what PEOPLE are ASSUMING!!!
Heat vs Nuggets final is going to be great. What people may not understand is, all superstars are healthy this playoff. KD/Booker/Lebron/AD/Kwai/PG/Steph/Thompson/Morant/Rudy/Towns/Giannis/Joel/Harden/Tatum/Jaylen/Mitchell/Tray including players that didn't made it to the playoff – Luka/Zion/Lillard and teams that had a decent roaster but lost anyways – Kings/Nicks. This playoff is loaded with healthy superstars. The reason they didn't make it to the finals is because they simply lost the games when it matters the most. This is actually one of the most competitive playoffs in the last 5yrs. Let's go Heat vs Nuggets!
0:49 cut that bullshit out rn. Did you say that when Giannass won his hospital ring?? How about GS always beating injured teams or Curry going up against 2nd string PGS??
Cut that out
True basketball fan watch best team in the finals no matter which team is in the finals. I'm always rooting for the Heat and Nuggets because of team basketball plays, Hustle plays, the ball movements its just so fun to watch not teams that has a ball dominant players who always like to Iso and has no ball movement its not baskeball to me. Boston and Lakers who that plays mostly on dominat ball players are boring to watch.
So basically Butler isnt having the best playoffs cos he had a team behind him.
This will be a great finals. The most consistent 'good' team in the playoffs, and the massive underdogs. Butler or Jokic getting a ring. Fantastic stuff. Hopefully it goes to 6 or 7 games.
