Yes, JJ is on the money on this and I've been echoing these sentiments for years. Coach Malone said the same thing: when the Lakers lost 2 games in a row all the coverage was about how the Lakers lost rather how the Nuggets won and they parlayed that into a sweep.
Even today the focus of the game was about what LeBron and the Lakers didn't do rather than the dominance of Jokić, Murray and the Nuggets. Sadly neither the NBA or the media covering it will learn their lesson as Wembanyama is already the flavor of the month and will likely suck all the oxygen out of the league once he's recruited by the Spurs. The NBA should instead be doing everything they can to make sure that other teams get just as much air time as the "king."

The league is getting more and more talented with a larger proportion of international players. They cant all be on the California teams. Your going to have talented players in OKC, Indiana, Utah and Toronto (gasp!). The era of the super team is over.

That said, Lakers were lucky to make it so far. A wounded grizzlies team, a fraudulent GSt warriors team that beat a no defense Kings team. Warriors looked awful all year. Despite so many of the same players, it was clear it was not the same 2022 team. Celtics were just awful vs Heat though.
It's good optics. It shows that the league is on the level. If these Boston and Lakers teams won, everyone would think it's rigged
