Alex and Gavin begin tackling your mailbag questions for this month! In this first episode, the ever-raging debate of banking on development, or pursuing help outside the roster. Can the Knicks count on Quentin Grimes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Obi Toppin to develop enough to take a step forward? Or should they look at external options like Kristaps Porzingis, Bradley Beal, OG Anunoby, Joel Embiid, or others?

All these stars you’re all talking about, how many of them have rings? Brown, Tatum, George, Embiid, Butler, etc.
The point: winning a championship is hard and even the notion that if you get these stars you’ll win is a little bit more complex then what the narrative tends to be in Knicks Nation.
Apart from last night’s effort against the Heat, I’ve been watching Tatum and Brown collapse and flounder down the stretch of games 1-3. These are supposed to be transformative talents, but each has specific limitations that make one wonder just what kind of team structure would turn them into true contending players. Is a pg like Brunson the key to relieving the pressure to facilitate? I don’t know the answer, there. It seems to me, though, that there is a fundamental competitive edge – the will to positively assert themselves late in close games – that is lacking in these two guys. Jimmy Butlers are few and far between, but increasingly so; does any star in the modern NBA still play for the love of the game and for the pure competitive desire to WIN?
Answer both; keep Quentin, RJ, and Brunson. Trade any of the others plus picks for a superstar like Embiid or Jaylen Brown
To answer the final question of the episode – the perfect mega star to pair with Brunson is Giannis. In a perfect world, it isn’t even close. That guy is a competitor!
Joel Embiid No-shows every game 7 in his career. For 56million/year and more now that he has a MVP, that can't be his liability. Just no. Hard Pass.
Porzingis for the right price would fit nicely. He's more mature now, he's played in NYC before, and most of all he has played with Jalen Brunson before.
Can't trade Grimes for Bogdanovich, not after that steal on Jimmy Butler in game 5.
