    Allan Houston
    Latrell Sprewell
    John Starks
    Charles Oakley
    Larry Johnson
    Anthony Mason
    *I’d argue Derek Harper

All those guys before Melo, and I’m probably missing some.

It’s obvious if you follow the Knicks on Twitter there so many notifications about Carmelo now it’s ridiculous.

Retiring Carmelo number is a optics move for future superstar players. Similar to the Heat retiring Jordan number.

No, please don’t, setting the bar low low low for retired #s.

6 seasons, no ECF appearances, was an ass to many ppl while he was here.

I love Melo, but let’s not look at the past with those rose tinted goggles on.

BREAKING NEWS: knicks might or might not retire melo’s number

Don’t think it’s a bad idea tbh, he gave us fans something to enjoy watching again. Once Melo was hot, there was no stopping him on the court. I don’t think people realize how bad/dark the Knicks were in the 2000s.

Spike Lee should have his glasses hung from the rafters before #7

F it, sign in next year to come off the bench. He’ll come out of retirement.

If this franchise retires Carmelo Anthony’s number it will be another low point for the franchise and will only make us more of a laughingstock around the league. Just when we take 1 step forward we take 5 steps back. A complete and utter joke.

The comments are acting like the Knicks have a historically great record like the lakers or Celtics with 33 combined championships… the Knicks have 2 rings both in the early 70s… Carmelo was the best Knick since Ewing and he spent the prime of his career in NY when no one else would. He brought NY back to the playoffs and won them their first playoff series in over a decade despise having no help in the playoffs. The oldest roster in history were significantly worse in the playoffs and Melo had to carry them. He finished top 3 in mvp voting, won the scoring title, made 2 all nba teams, and 7 all star teams in NY.

Summary: the standard of retiring a jersey w the Knicks is not the same as the Lakers… the Knicks have had no actual “success” since 1973. If Nick Collison and Earl Monroe can get their jersey retired so can Melo. If you seriously think Earl Monroe was a better Knick than Melo just cause he won a ring you don’t know ball.

Even if you dont win a championship, sometimes you bring a winning culture to a team and make it a playoff perennial. One playoff series doesn’t qualify as a winning culture. If you dont have a support cast you can claim that as a reason for not winning a championship. You cant claim that as an excuse for not making the playoffs specially if you are considered a superstar. Carmelo maybe a great player and may qualify for a lot of things. He simply doesn’t qualify as a knicks legend cause he didn’t do enough winning with the knicks.

I think the Knicks may have to retire his jersey because Nikola Jokic is currently wearing Melo’s old number 15 jersey for the nuggets and they’re most likely saving that number for him. So if any team wants to retire Melo’s jersey it would have to be the Knicks.

No way! Starks or King waaaay before him. No offense.

Dolan loves Melo, it’s happening…it’s now just a matter of when it’ll happen.
