Did we draft the single worst player in the top 27 (with #9) in the 2018 draft?

Michael Porter Jr’s evolution with Denver this postseason had me remembering the 2018 draft. We’ve heard the takes on how we whiffed on the two Bridges – but, that draft was a lot deeper than that. I think Knox might be the single worst player in the top 20.

No. I don’t even know who number 22 is

  2. CraYzySaurous574

Zhaire Smith played like 5 games, and Jerome Robinson is outta the league if im correct. Same with Hutchison. Other guys like Brown Jr. and Bamba are scrubs too. Hes bad and sucks especially for his pick spot but theres some other ass too all around there

  3. PorzingisDingus

We might not of drafted the official worst player but we definitely sold the bag harder than any other team that year — fuckin makes me sick that we passed on Mikal, especially when it seemed everybody here wanted him.

kev knox was a goat pick. we flipped him for cam then flipped cam for joshua hart. ignore the picks

  6. Skankcunt420

Barret so lucky he didn’t go thru what frank and Knox did

Our organization was trash then and didn’t know how to develop. Steve mills didn’t know shit and we had a new coach every season. Knox and frank got fucked over right as soon as they came into the league when they came to NY

Rj had the benefit of developing under a competent FO

  7. bobak186

Including Knox there’s 5/6 useless players on that list. It’s hard to separate them, but I’d say Knox wasn’t the worst

  8. prettytopsayebro

I’m glad we didn’t draft Miles

  9. YurtlesTurdles

Wild how many good guys came out of that draft.

  10. TheMarslMcFly

I mean yeah, we sold the Draft but Kevin Knox also brought us Josh Hart later on, so I won’t complain tbh

  11. TheSandman2087

I know this is redundant. But SGA at 11 makes me cringe hard.

  12. nazrmo78

Maybe not the worst but he’s up there

  13. uponthedownside79

Hey coulda been worse bagley at 2?

  14. press_Y

Knox and baguette two of our worst picks ever

  15. dill1234

What hurts is that every man and his dog could see that MPJ would at worst be a usable role player and now that exact type of player would have helped us massively this postseason.

  16. NYdude777

Porter was gonna be in the mix for the #1 pick before the injury stuff popped up late. Still wanted him at 9 as a lottery ticket.

  17. EmoKnicksFan

i will never forget the kevin knox summer league hype

  18. Knox had a GOAT performance in his first Summer League game and I was there to witness it. It was all downhill from there lol

  19. WhatIsGoingOnHere_2

Everything is and always will be the way it was supposed to be. I’m not mad, but damn we drafted us a biscuit

  20. Merman-Munster

When you factor in the Fortnite blazer, yes and it’s not close

  21. Immediatewhaffle

I was very wrong about Knox. I felt really good about his raw tools and the ability to develop him.

What sucks the most is that if he just panned out as an average 3&D wing with his size and versatility defensively he’d be exactly what this team needs.

He shows very very brief glimpses of what it might have looked like sometimes but cannot sustain it. I hope he carves out a decent career for himself maybe like a Charlie Villanueva type career at the very best.

  22. slyguy183

I was having a perfectly good day, then I had to see this post on here

  23. mottolottotto

It’s only really makes sense to look at pick 9 and down. That being said I see more than a few in that group I’d rather have than Knox

  24. LuckBox424

Just more horrific decisions from the front office like always, yet the majority of redditors here want us to be extra positive and any calling out of horrible draft decisions is considered “hating”

  25. LuckBox424

I personally wanted Porter I knew he would eventually turn out to be good

  26. Davefromflushing

That top 27 is absolutely stacked. And yes, we could’ve thrown a dart blindfolded and picked a better player than Knox.

  27. dukemantee

Would just say that guy felt certain that year that Bags was the best player in the draft. I would’ve traded half our team for him.

  28. zeezee2k

I thought he was going to be the next KD with his size and shooting.

  29. MJisthrgoat

Honestly if we put all those other names on a dart board and threw a dart we would have landed a better pick.

    RIP summer league Knox

  30. Nah, #6 isn’t much better, same with 23, then 13 is in the G league and 22 is already “retired”

  31. WhelpStupidUserName

Knicks at least got Mitchell Robinson in this draft.

That must have been some shit to get picked 9th and have to watch #36 start and shine while you’re on the bench.

  32. magnavoice

I’d take anyone over Ted Cruz’s son

  33. sd4181984

This is haunting…Shai, Mikal, Miles Bridges probably finds God and happiness and doesn’t have to beat up his wife if we draft him, butterfly effect…

  34. Like it legitimately set us backwards missing on that pick. Watching a whole year of horrible basketball just to pick Kevin Knox…

  35. Not the worst but could’ve done waaay better at pick #9

  36. Original-Common-7010

We also drafted mitch the same year

  37. Geep1778

Don’t do it to yourself man the past equals pain brother let it go lol. But ok let’s shit on em 1 last good 1! Whoever you are and you know who I’m talking about.. yeah you! Wtf were you thinking?! Knox over Bridges or SGA or the other I jump over buildings bridges!! Was it you Scott Perry??! !! 🤣

  38. Bproud77

Still hoping Knox gets it together. The kid is a nice fella. Theres talent there. Its confidence and effort he lacks.

  39. ZoidbergSaysWoop

I recall wanting Mikal or Miles, one of the Bridges.

When Mikal was still on the board, how the Knicks saw what he did at Villanova and took Knox over him, I’ll never understand.

Wait, maybe the Knicks scouts didn’t do their job and mailed it in then.
