Gilbert has an annoying background
After watching this I feel like the argument is would you rather watch And 1 where guys are all for the entertainment or watch the NBA where the goal is to win games and championships. What many of you are missing is fantasy sports. As fantasy basketball picks up as much as football or even baseball, Joker goes first and everyone knows it. He's a walking triple double. I would want to watch Joker all 38 minutes and after the game see 2 or 3 Ja highlights. Same for Jimmy Butler or Lebron and after the game get wowed by 2 Zion dunks on ESPN.

There should be less games during regular season, players will rest and there wont be load management.
Also the NBA could introduce a new tournament based in knockouts. Like in football with the Champions League or the National cups like FA Cup or Copa del Rey. The way it is now no one cares about regular season. It is all about MVP narratives, so so boring.

It wasn't that long ago that the Lakers had horrible losing teams while Kobe was on the roster. Boston has had years of being terrible, too. Playing for a big market team has always been an intrigue for NBA players, and that will continue. To use the word "survive" in that context was some ridiculous hyperbole from Gilbert Arenas, respectfully.
Why are they so focus on how showman you play and all stars vs how amazing a player is. You can keep Ja and his dunking and all showmanship; jokic will keep winning and be an all time great. Ja will be another over hype player

Winning makes markets, nobody cared about Bulls and Warriors before their dominance. And with the international reach bigger and bigger US centric markets don't matter that much. Like in the 2000's Pistons got a lot of fans around the world because of the type of team basketball they played even without big/famous international players like the Spurs or Dallas for example.

It is not a coincidence that when he was dissing giannis he called him unskilled and said that he as a small player should know the refs names and what rules are bendable or not to counter the physicality that he lacked.

There will always be new stars. No player is bigger than the game. After wilt, they had Kareem, then magic/bird. After mj retired. Kobe, AI, Shaq, T-Mac. After them Steph, LeBron, Luca. Once they retire, the media will just focus on the new stars. Also, steph can play another 5-6 years in a late stage Ray Allen role.
