I’m confused about this tweet because this guy definitely isn’t a reporter, never breaks news, etc. He’s basically a fan account, yet I feel like he may not be wrong here
Why would the rockets bring this dude back? They have mouths to feed with playing time and contracts in the coming years. I don’t see how reverting back to aging Hardenball is good for their franchise. Sixers have done dumber shit I guess.

We’re in an awkward spot. Long term he’s not worth it, but he does give us the best chance next year. Maybe a 2 year deal with a team option for the 2nd year? Doubt he’ll go for something like that.

The Sixers are definitely better in the short-term with Harden and in the long-term without him. The tricky part is that Maxey is going to get paid a big contract, which will take up the space freed by the Tobias Harris contract. The team is going to need to be really creative either way, but it’ll be harder if James is looking to semi-retire in Houston.
That said, the worst-case scenario is Harden re-signing here and immediately starting to think about moving on. The team can’t handle that.

I still wouldn’t rule out a return for Harden. I heard Morey is a tough negotiator. I just can’t imagine many suitors for Harden. Even Houston I’m not sure wants to fuck with the future of their young players by bringing back a 33 year old whose usage rate is so high.
This could be Morey playing hardball with Harden. One thing is for sure….if Harden returns, it’s not going to be on a max. If it’s even a somewhat reasonable contract, whether you like Harden or not, it may be a tradeable contract during the year or next year.

I feel like Harden is 100% staying because we WILL pay him if we have to. Our cap is so fucked if we don’t. Plus why would Harden randomly stop ring chasing? Our squad is definitely a contender again next year with a new coach. All of the Harden to Houston rumors are all just so he can get more money on his contract.
