If true this is from br so applie a grain of salt. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10077242-nba-rumors-knicks-interest-in-karl-anthony-towns-a-little-down-from-past-levels
Should listen to the podcast. They go on to report that Thibodeau is open to coaching KAT again. Very clear they would add KAT for the right price.

idk how ppl hated the melo trade and think let’s do it again but for an even worse player who’s contract will be 2x our best players

KAT is a low motor player and doesn’t fit the identity of the Knicks. He will be an upgrade, but his ability to play the center position is questionable. In my opinion, trading for Paul George would be a better option. He fits the identity the Knicks team is going for. That trade will be expensive for the Knicks, but not that bad given the return.

This FO is never going to overpay from what they believe someone’s value is. It’s extremely awesome.

We should definitely take a look at Cam Johnson even if he’s is a RFA

The opening offer should be Randle for KAT + a FRP (we get the pick). Minnesota can maybe negotiate me down to a direct swap (Fournier to match salaries).
Randle and KAT are very clearly the same caliber of player. IMO both are close to the 25 – 30th best player in the NBA. KAT gets paid way more than Randle. So we should negotiate from the strong position we have.
