Everything we already knew. Randle only gets traded if we can get someone even better. Exactly what I expected to hear… common sense

A lot of things that are expectations.
I expect quality discourse from this knowledge.

Anyone else think 18m is too much for Hart? He killed our spacing in the 2nd round. Id prefer 15m

The only thing I want to see ASAP is the re-signing of Josh Hart.
IQ- I think his contract size might take a hit, I do not know if a 100m contract is coming his way
Barrett/Randle- The only way either is moved is if we obtain a star via trade.
The article mentioned DRose- Sad to say, this might be it for him…. If we opt out (likely as we have to pay 15m) maybe we can re-sign him at the vet minimum or around there to keep him as a mentor. Who the hell would not want that.

It’s a great article overall. I just wanted to hear about a stretch 5 and unfortunately that didn’t happen. Everything else made sense, Julius is well liked in the organization and unless you’re getting Joel Embiid moving him doesn’t make sense. I’m surprised about Derrick rose I thought they were going to pick up his option to trade for a bigger piece. I’m sad to see him go.

I personally see a quiet offseason outside of picking up some shooters.. not sure who that is yet but a big trade isn’t something this franchise is willing to do for the sake of a trade. We have to tread super carefully, the team is growing with playoff experience and that is HUGE and need to add pieces like a Josh Hart that can come in a be part of the culture not establish another one. I’d personally try to do everything to get Mikal here even tho it’s not happening… I’d give up everyone not named Brunson for him tho

I hate Tommy Beer but I saw him with an interesting trade scenario that is basically the only one where I had to think about it for a minute it seems so fair on both sides
The Knicks trade Julius Randle and Isaiah Heartenstein to the Raptors for Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa
That’s such a crazy fair deal for both sides it seems like it wouldn’t get either fan base too bent out of shape,
Now cue the outrage from Knicks fans saying that the Raptors would be getting totally screwed and they’d never do the deal even with first round picks thrown in.
Every Knicks fan overvalues our players to a ridiculous degree except for Randle, with him they want to give the guy away foe some used basketballs.

The Quickley on a contract that’s floor is 4 for 80 million is pretty bananas, That’s a fair number but Quicckley making Brunson or Randle numbers is insane seeing that we have a starting PG already and I don’t know if Tibs wants IQ starting at the 2 over Grimes.
We’l be 50 million dollars over the cap by t he time we pay Hart and Grimes and his extension kicks in.

Julius Randle is going to get DeMar DeRozan-ed at some point. DeMar had some of the greatest stretches of scoring you would ever see in short bursts over his career. I believe he is the Raptors all time leading career scorer. Hall of famer, I love his game, he will go down as one of the great 2 guards to play this game, but the Raptors just kept getting absolutely annihilated by LeBron, and DeMar just kept not showing up in the playoffs. They move him for Kawhi, he takes it in 1. Granted a fuck ton of good luck happened to get them there, but if you don’t got IT you won’t ever get IT.

They allude to this but I think IQ ends up being the odd man out because of finances. You’ve got Randle, Barrett, and Brunson on big money deals and Hart is certain to get $15MM or so, Mitch is on $15MM for another 3 years.
IQ is a 20-25MM guy but is that what you want to pay a 6th man? You’d have to trade for someone that makes you a championship contender and be willing to go almost $100MM over the cap to justify it.

$18mil/yr for Hart would be dope
$22mil/yr for IQ would also be dope

100m for IQ is something the old Knicks would do. Paying someone for their highs while ignoring their frequent lows is a recipe for disaster.

If I’m honest, I’ve been leaning towards the Trade Quickley team since I first saw his article about wanting to start. I think a stretch 5 would open up the Knicks to top 3 potential, so I’d be willing to shop him and Mitch around for Myles Turner or (my personal choice), Porzingis
