Imo, those 2 options are mutually inclusive. Not making playoffs next season will doom any future championship potential.
We can't win with Bullock as our best defender. At 32, he is too slow against fast guards and too small against bigs. Plus he can't shoot the 3s the way he used to. At most he will miss 9 shots before hitting his first on average. Taylor Hendricks solves this dilemma but the question is if he would still be available at 10th.

Luka says he wants to win, but we all know talk is cheap (+ who doesn't) … But actions speak louder than words. Rsp on defense.
Luka simply needs to up his effort to attract another quality player/s.
Showing up this next season in shape will be a good indication.
Building a contender takes time and multiple smart moves, and this team is so far away from contending. We can cut corners and try to address the needs in front of us, but getting the kind of players who actually address those needs will cost more than we think and possibly just create a different hole in the roster. Then what? Once weâve used up our remaining assets; how do we keep building to the next goal of being a contender?
Only way mavs can be a contenders:
-Kyrie for AD
-10+THJ+Bertans+mcgee+2027 FRO protected for Capella+hunter+15
-capella+15 for turner+26&29
-draft Colby Jones & Trayce Jackson Davis with the 26th & 29th pick. A SG & a PF/C
-Use full TMLE on Bruce brown as promise him a starting role at 2.
