20 is a decent number and tradable but I would still seek elsewhere first

I think, despite some of his playoff lows, DLo was a vibe changer from the start. And boy did this team need that!

When his handle was strong and teams were mostly leaving him alone he was great asset on the floor as well. Only big problem with him is a bit of inconsistency and defensive liability.

He’s a guy that will get you some good wins in the regular season – I just don’t know how much he’ll contribute against the top competitive teams down the playoff stretch.

  3. quwin123

You cannot lose him for nothing. That is the worst outcome.

  4. CooperHouseDeals

The Lakers are not going to win a chip with DLO. We need winners from Day 1.

Dlo was fine before the Denver series. This feels like a case of our fans overreacting again. But then again we had some fans suggest trading AD so not surprised.

That’s still a lot for a cheerleader, don’t they already have lakers girls and towel boys?

  7. newperson77777777

Actually, this is prolly pretty decent. If Dlo ends up doing well after 2 years, he’ll probably get re-signed for more too.

Honestly people are so focused on what DLo wasn’t able to do in the playoffs. One thing he buys the team is another scorer and playmaker during the regular season and he fits with the team. Lebron’s foot in the playoffs was in a bad spot. Same could be said for AD as well. In the regular season DLo was effective and took the pressure off Lebron and AD. If the Lakers can win 50+ games next season while preserving Lebron and AD because the other guys are outplaying other teams in the league, then DLo is worth a good amount of money. Think about the Denver series and how spent the 2 main guys were. Part of that fatigue was from the heavy toll the regular season took on them. Look at Denver. They just kind of coasted the last month and ratcheted up their level of play each round. They had those extra gears because they were healthy, well rested and weren’t forced to fight every game for the final 2 months of the season. It’s like running long distance. You don’t start sprinting half way to the end, you save that last bit of juice for the end in case you need it. The Lakers have been sprinting since February. Denver didn’t have to sprint until May.

All that said. There are benefits to having DLo back. He helps make the regular season easier, helps preserve the stars for a real playoff run. From the outside he seems like a good teammate and gets along with everyone. On top of that his contract is a valuable tradable asset that can be used to improve the team if he’s not the guy they need.

Fuck this, D Lo has a horrible attitude. He’s not a winner. Everyone else in exit interviews said that the season wasn’t a success because they wanted to win a championship. D Lo was totally happy with where they ended. He also gave himself no less than 3 “pats on the back” for his preparation and the work he put in. Please, he treated it like the regular season. He doesn’t know how to push himself.

Also, he didn’t want to come off the bench, and because of his selfish attitude, Ham ended up starting him probably two games more than he would have, because he didn’t want to upset the little princess over there. D Lo is the reason we lost. He is as soft as they come. He is the opposite of Mamba mentality. He is one of the most talented players in the league, but sits at the floor of his potential because he doesn’t want to be uncomfortable.

Has to be 3 year to trade it on draft night

  11. TorontoRaptors34

I think DLO could be a solid 6th man like Clarkson. I been saying that. Maybe thats too expensive but I think its in the teams best interest to resign Reaves and Rui first. Also Id rather bring Lonnie back tbh.

  12. F-150Pablo

Think a 2/30 would be a easier move if we’re looking that route. A 2/40 is a lot of money to drop on teams that might not have that market cap space.

  13. Iwubwatermelon

We can’t keep Dlo, let that guy free.

  14. Bright-Candy-6423

I would rather sign ja morants sister than dlo

  15. Just pay him. We have no cap at all, letting him go would literally be a waste.

  16. the_far_yard

2/40 isn’t bad. Russell is crucial in a long season.

  17. Quirky-School-4658

Unless you have something better guaranteed locked up, keep him on this kind of deal. He and Shroeder are the best our point guard situation has been since Derek Fisher.

  18. virji24

Can’t believe there’s people out there that don’t want to do this. Like we have options or something lol. This is a steal and then you can decide if you want to move him later.

  19. beefmapstan

People underestimating DLo. He’s fine, just needs more confidence during playoff time. If he can work on his passing, you really can’t ask for more as long as Lebron still there. When Lebron’s gone maybe that’s when we can start shopping for a superstar PG. Who knows he might get to that level by then. You can tell he’s fit to be a Laker.

  20. velphegor666

2/40 is pretty nice. Short term contract which makes trading him easier. Question is will dlo do it?

  21. Buckowski66

He’s not fond of all the bouncing around he’s done in recent years and wants security in year’s and money. I’ll bet he turns this down.

  22. thehugster

DLO is almost the perfect compliment to LeBron and ad offensively, I think his poor performance against the nuggets may be a blessing in disguise, dramatically lessening his free agent value.

  23. WideCoconut2230

Dlo is an UFA, so will be interesting to see what his market will be.

  24. Hot_Pie1464

On a side note, i’m more disappointed than mad at dlo’s performance vs denver. It’s sad that he’s getting killed everywhere on social media because he’s one of our own and kobe was his mentor. Wish things turned out differently but it is what it is

  25. lazyass133

I had a heart attack when I confused Russell with Westbrook. Then I calmed down when I realized it was D’Lo.

  26. tmacleon

You know…. Just run it back with this exact same team plus another big man. A real C that can bang.
