I’m hoping (and praying) that this is just a tactic by the FO to raise the value of our players.

From their approach at the trade deadline, it looks like their direction is dependent on the offers they receive for the players. If they got good trade offers, they were willing to go young and rebuild somewhat. If they got low ball and shit offers, that’s what we saw and they just kept them together. I’d suspect a similar thing going on here. They are listening to offers but they aren’t afraid of just extend OG and Siakam and roll with it

I mean, if you look at our salary cap situation it’s pretty clear what’s going to happen. We’re going re-sign Fred, Gary and Jak and then trade Fred, Flynn and OPJ at next seasons trade deadline. After that we’ll re-sign Siakam and OG and then trade Siakam during the 2024-2025 trade deadline.

Next season is going to be tough to watch, especially with no first round pick as a silver lining but we have to maximize the trade value of our players at this point if we’re going to rebuild.

Front office is acting like they’re splitting up a contending core

its funny that everybody in the league and their moms know what direction this team needs to go in given the product on the floor we had to witness the last year and a half but the team does not. not comitting to a rebuild is setting us back. a rebuild has always been inevitable since we traded demar and kawhj left.

its as if they want to believe in this core real bad, when fvv is a 6th man on a championship team at best and pascal is a 2nd option..our team is just filled with really good role players and no true stars. every team in the playoffs have at least 2 guys they can rely on to score consistently and compliment each other. nobody in our starting 5 compliments each other on offense (think of a murray/jokic duo and how they play off each other) this team just lacks TALENT

edit: Also, i can see where they wanna go with the 6’9 players 1-5 thing, but that can only work if those 4-5 guys can SHOOT and score. (just imagine having a 6’6 pg and 6’7 sg scoring and play defense, with the rest of the lineup taller) our ‘defense first’ mentality isnt bad when you have guys that can score, but if you dont then you only have a team thats only good at HALF the game and redundant. these guys are not true ‘two way players’, just 5 forwards that all play the same with no variety, creating redundancy

The important takeaway here is that Windhorst’s stated sources are at other teams not the Raptors. The Raps are not revealing their intentions to anyone. Nothing new here imo

  7. The likely direction is to kick the can further down the road. Bring back as many players as they can and “compete” next year. Whatever that means to them.

We are definitely competing, giving up a lightly protected 2024 pick kinda confirms that.

    Yup, that’s the Raptors…

Happy for him!! They said same thing last year!!

  11. Masai just as dumb as you neffews if this is true.

We are screwed. I mean the writing should be in the wall already. They need to blow it up. I guess Masai is gonna go down with the ship.
