Windhorst: I think [Portland] might try to walk the line. Keep Dame, and the #3 pick, and see if they can make it work.

If there’s not a deal out there that’s not a total overpay, then I’m fine with this.

  2. netsfan2002

I feel like that’s such a risky move though. Wait another year and dames value takes a pretty big hit, if the number three pick doesn’t pan out for whatever reason you’re not going to get someone to be competitive with Dame. Curious what the fan base thinks.

☝️ Now why would they do that? ☝️

  4. GuyIncognito211

So exactly what we’ve done for the last decade. *sigh*

  5. IHOPUnderrated

I’d start shopping Dame then. May as well commit to the rebuild.

  6. Krustykrab8

Good, can’t punt on this pick unless an actual star is available, and we don’t overpay

  7. Responsible-Still839

Bottom-line, you only trade a #3 pick if you are getting a big time star with the possibility of contention. If a trade of that sort isn’t offered, you don’t trade the pick just to trade it. That is too inflexible.

just trade our future FRP’s plus ant for the SF upgrade that we seek for fucks sakes. we DO NOT need to trade a top 3 pick in a loaded draft. i can’t even remember the last time a top 3 pick was traded for a win-now guy. was it the wiggins-kevin love trade?

i don’t even care if we have to trade 3 of our future FRP’s with low-zero protection with 2 pick swaps in between. DO NOT TRADE THIS #3 OVERALL DRAFT PICK.

  9. GuyIncognito211

Thinking about it this could just be the front office trying to regain some leverage afte basically everything hinting towards us being desperate to trade it

Us moving up the draft changed up the things a bit. If we moved down to 7th or 8th, the pick would be traded for sure. Star market is also most likely gonna be dry as well. For example people assume Raptors for sure are gonna trade Siakam or OG but in reality they are more likely to keep them and extend them.

I think the most likely trade partners for us are the Bulls. There are murmurs of a star wanting to join up with Dame and I think that star is Derozan. He is not going to be expensive to trade for and we still have to get our pick protection situation in order.

Obviously. Don’t undersell either the pick or Dame. There is no necessity to trade one or the other. If a deal isn’t there it’s not there. Teams are underselling us for the 3rd pick and I don’t think Dame pulls a package right now that’s very high. Not because of him but because of what teams are willing to do. Dame is more valuable to our team than just trading him for half of his worth.

    Narrator: it didn’t work.

I kid. I hope they take this path. It seems like the best for the team.

if Scoot drops to 3 what do we do?

We can’t have Scoot, Dame, and Simons on the same team and the rest of the NBA knows this. we won’t get anything in return. That being said, Scoot and Sharpe on the same timeline would be VERY exciting

I just want to know what the Blazers are doing in the draft and what media deal the Pac12 ends up with. What I don’t want is months of speculation.

  15. Isleofsalt

It’s not the worst idea of everyone is being unreasonable at the draft. It might not be Dame’s preference but there’s no reason we need to make a big move at the draft, we could always reassess at the deadline and see what the landscape is then. Maybe when Brooklyn is 19-32 in February they’ll be more amenable to making a deal.

  16. myNameBurnsGold

Assuming it is Miller, I don’t mind this. If we keep the pick I think we still need to find a 3. Who do you guys like in an Ant centered trade (obviously the tier below JB and Bridges).

  17. MavetheGreat

Plan B. This implies they can’t find an elite piece for the pick thus far.

The question is if they can convince Dame on this. If not, it’s on to plan C

  18. BrklynDragon

Bad idea. You aren’t going to be able to develop sharpe & miller with while dame is here trying to wing with grand and nurkic.

  19. boneyjones444

Has to be a situational dependent choice when you make up your mind on these things beforehand you get ripped off

  20. buttsoup24

Ya this is what needs to happen.

Simons is still so young. We need to keep him

  21. k_dubious

The only moves that don’t make sense are either trading both Dame and the pick, or trading the pick in any of the trash-tier proposals that have been circulating in the media.

  22. lunes_azul

It’s the only logical step if we can’t shop it for a top player like Jaylen Brown. Fuck wasting it on role players that won’t let us sniff a top 4 finish.

  23. jumbojimbojamo

Pretty stoked for a 40 win team that gets rocked in the first round or play in. And then next summer we get another Dame Stay/Leave news cycle, before we eventually use another top 10 draft pick, to see if the team can figure it out and compete.

  24. masta_wayne__

Good, we can still trade 23 and anfernee for a good player
