If this is the end of the line for these 3 guys in any way… I truly swallow my pride and say it was an honor. Thank you. For all the memories. Good and bad.

This is sports lol. Who gives a shit about memories unless they were attached to championships lmfao.

A match made in heaven trade for y’all is to get Kyrie and 1 (maybe Tim hardaway) for Jaylen brown and a smaller asset. I just think the Celtics need a ball handler no matter how you guys feel about Kyrie and his departure in 2018. That’s a match made trade there

Run it back for another year.

  4. 693275001

Might be time to part with Smart. Disappeared tonight on both ends. Tough to watch

  5. TatumBrownSmart

    You’re telling me, bro.

    I am dead inside.

I watched these guys for 6 years, through all the ups and downs hoping that it would end in a ring.

    I feel nothing.

Kind of crazy how many people in here want to break up this core that has great chemistry and has done great things over the years. I understand reacting in the moment but this is wild

  7. SquimJim

It hadn’t really hit me that that this could be the last time we see these 3 together. I mean, chances are that they are back, but it does kind of hit me in the feels just the thought we may not see them play another game together.

One more year then Jaylen is gone. Marcus was killer this series and besides a few dumbass passes as largely a net positive

  9. god this is so bizarre. This core won absolutely nothing. They constantly underperformed and fell short. Going 7 against the heat last year was a joke, the fact they started 3-0 against this heat team this year was a fucking joke, the fact that they didn’t sweep toronto in the bubble and fucked around causing kembas knee to get worse and hayward to tweak his ankle, losing the lead late in the 4th to lebron and the cavs. Having a double digit lead with a chance to go up 3-1 in the finals in the fourth quarter then losing by double digits. My memories of this team will be nothing but frustration and softness. They need a major shakeup of this core, I have no idea what that means but they absolutely 100% cannot run this shit back for the love of god it’s enough lol.

I blame Danny Ainge for what Smart’s ego has become. Ainge blew so much smoke up his ass for years that he truly believes he’s on Browns level. Dude might actually be our 3 best point guard and should really be 6th man off the bench.

  11. PatsDynasty01

Mostly good but also mostly bad when it mattered most unfortunately

  12. Wedundidit00

I refuse to believe smart is the problem in this equation, dude takes such a floor general burden from 2 all nba guys.

  13. TheJackalsDoom

This team is turning into the biggest “what if” teams of all time. So much talent and not a damn thing to show for it. Kind of like the Big 3 days where we all wonder “what if” they kept their egos in check and made more of their unfair talent, they’d have gotten more than 1 Ring. This team is more like “what if we weren’t cycling through coaches and staff at an absurd rate and kept a core across the whole team together.”

  14. EmployeeNumberMate

It’s not the end. These three are just getting started.

  15. Machiniac

Fire Joe. Keep the boys. Run it back. Let’s go!

  16. GooseMay0

Nah fuck that. These guy have made watching basketball pretty miserable. It’s not because they didn’t win a championship. They never won one with IT but that was SO much more enjoyable than watching entitled, lazy, prima donnas constantly play down to competition and no show playoff games.

  17. xPineappless

I know JB had a pretty bad performance, but wtf has Smart been at.

  18. Dondon1927

I cant be the only one whos tired of these 3

  19. Big-Candle91

What a way to not live up to the potential.

  20. dark_hop

I agree with Barkley. This team is playing and winning on talent. They have to learn to be more consistent and disciplined.

Feels like we’re at that point, but more from a team building/roster construction point of view than anything. Even if you really believe these guys can get over the hump, the supporting cast must and will get worse once these super max contracts kick in. You can’t just keep spending to overcome the new cba, the mechanisms to keep retooling rosters are being removed in order to even the playing field. That’s the main reason I’m advocating for a change and I think it has to be Jaylen. We are not a tough team and losing Smart only makes us worse. He did have his usual couple of bone head plays in this series but overall I don’t think he was too bad.
Our bigs are where we are going to lose moving forward. Al is getting old, Rob’s body can not be trusted (I mean can you imagine if he didn’t play how bad we would have lost this series) and Grant is stuck in between being a big and a wing and probably isn’t good at being either.
Converting Jaylen jnto a good big and a serviceable 3 and d wing has to be the plan this offseason.
I’ll always root for JB i just think he’s going to be in new colours.

people forget and do not realize how hard it is to win a championship, there are 30 teams, so on “average” every team is expected to win 1 ring every 30 years (except the knicks).

If gsw wins 0 rings until 2135 (that is 120 years since their 1st ring in 2015), they would have the same numbers of rings as the average number of rings of the rest of the teams until 2135.

  23. hello2016

Fuck it, break it up and build around JT. They’re costing us Tatum’s championship window years.

  24. MoooonRiverrrr

Outside looking in, as a non-Celtics or Heat fan this core was very fun to watch. Iconic in their own way. One of my best friends is a Celtics fan and it was always fun hearing his takes on this team over the past 5 years and watching them progress

  25. hello2016

Smart getting too old, Tatum peaking, Brown has already peaked.. IMO

  26. Lordofthebeer

It’s been long enough. We can’t keep saying “They’ll grow from this” or “Run it back, they win next season for sure”. They’ve proven that they can’t make it to the finish line. Something needs to change at this point.

  27. reubenbatman3

Heat fan here. Should have been your year last year, but you choked.

  28. pass_ball

    Jayson Tatum is underrated.

Marcus Smart has no trade value.

    Jaylen Brown for Zion Williamson.

  29. 8008s4life

If you imagine this team with Rhondo on it, they’d be such a different team you wouldn’t know who they were. The biggest piece to this puzzle is a true point guard.
