I love when people point out Tobias’ contract they act like they’ve discovered oil in their back yard.

Is this just a list of people you’d rather have instead of Harris? Tobi has never played up to his contract, that’s not even a question. It’s the only reason he’s still on the team, because we can’t afford to cut him and nobody else would trade for him.
The real comparison is Butler. Paying Harris meant we couldn’t afford Butler (and I understand that Management didn’t want Butler) and Ben. Hindsight makes all of those decisions obviously bad, but even at the time it didn’t seem like a smart move.
If things had been different, they’d be different. Tobi walks, maybe we still lose Butler, pick up some free agents to replace Harris, and have some other role players for when we bring in Harden in exchange for Seth.

Lots of people like to talk about the contract but he is not the reason we can’t get out of the second round. We have an Embiid centered offense that works in the regular season but not so much in the playoffs.

Put Duncan’s contract on there, cowards.

Tobias’s contract is one small part of the problem
This team has drafted like shit for over a decade.
As much as Hinkie is beloved on this sub he hit on Embiid and nothing else in the draft and drafted players who weren’t a fit for the modern NBA, Okafor was end career Patrick Ewing level athleticism and his play style was outdated by 2010 but we wasted a pick on him
A sudden panic switch from “let’s build this from scratch” to “we have to win right now which included Tobias, renting Butler and bringing in Horford was the end of it.
Maxey is the only other pick this team has made to make any level of contribution to winning

Elton Brand smh

You need a good coach and player development as an org to utilize players like Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent well. It’s like how San Antonio could turn guys into contributors that other teams would struggle to fit into their offense.
Tobias Harris hasn’t played well, but maybe he’s just a symptom of a weak organization that needs a more thorough fix.

Tobi’s contract has been a huge wall getting in the way of building a competitive roster. He has also unfortunately not been the all-star caliber player we hoped he would be.
But the cost of his contract isn’t his fault. Good for him for negotiating and securing a contract.
The blame for the teams lack of cap space lies squarely on Elton Brand and anyone else from team management who pushed for him over Jimmy Butler.
Are we as a fandom not able to recognize this? I’m not trying to contest that Tobias has fallen short of expectations (he has). Or that he isn’t currently overpaid for his production (he is overpaid). But the cost of his contract isn’t his fault.

Lol this is so bias… I could say lowry and victor oladipo is the same salary as Tobias and I would take tobias over them anyway
