How Good Were The 70s Chicago Bulls?

Well this one has been a long time coming!

Today we’re taking a look at the 70s Chicago Bulls. In my opinion, the early to mid 70s bulls are one of the most underrated teams in NBA History, but just how good were they really?

  1. Nice choice for video subject matter.

The 70s Bulls are indeed overlooked largely due to fans' ignorance of players without marquee names.

Bill Simmons wrote in The Book of Basketball that Jerry Sloan and Norm Van Lier were considered one of, if not the toughest, backcourts of all time.

Then you add in guys like Bob Love, Nate Thurmond, and later Artis Gilmore.

Guys and teams like these are what true fans long to know about.

  2. Uncle Hays thank you so much for doing this video. Much respect to you the true G.O.A.T. of YouTube.

  3. THX U 4 MAKIN VIDEOS LIKE DIS💯NEVER KNEW ANY OF THESE PLAYERS OR THEIR STORIES UNTIL NOW😮‍💨

  4. I watched a ton games in the 1970.. I agree with this guy big time.. this team was a very tough physical great team.. they win alot of games just never win a title… They played rugged defense and walked the ball up the floor.. did not shoot well but were very intense and fun to watch… Jerry Sloan.. norm van lier . Bob love.. chet walker.. bob Weiss.. Tom boerwinkle.. cliff ray.. etc.. all of these guys could play in any era

  5. Watching your videos from Paris France ! Great videos as always, super strorytelling and its just always great about to learn about obscur NBA history.

  6. This brought back alot of memories from that 1970-75 time period, the Bulls were very good but not great, they had to contend with Kareem at his prime with the Bucks.

  7. Ur channel along with 70snba are the best when it comes to previous eras and talking about the history of the game. Jonny Arnett as well. Keep up the good work.

  8. I actually wonder if Artis Gilmore had stayed with the bulls for 2 more seasons instead of getting traded to the Spurs then jordan was drafted. They would've been good as a team and Wooldridge had potential but coke and injuries held him back.

  9. Bulls also had vets like Thurmond and Chet walker earlier

  10. Here's a true NBA story. It was my custom to take my ball with me to NBA games for the sole purpose of shooting as many shots as I could before being ushered out. In the late 60s-early 70s, when the clock went below 2:00 in the 4th quarter, the ushers didn't care if you went down and sat in the higher price seats. So me and my homie would move down so as to get on the court the moment the clock went to 0:00. Well, this particular game featured my Baltimore Bullets vs the 1972 Chicago Bulls. When the clock went to zero I was on the court. The players weren't fully off the court and headed to their respective benches to gather their things. I went over to Chet Walker and yelled, "Chet, catch this"? The ball didn't go in and rolled right to Chet Walker. He grabbed my ball in the corner (OFF THE COURT), turned his back, and tossed an over-the-head launch that went right in the basket! We looked at one another and laughed in amazement. We still laugh at that to this day!

  11. Great video, imagine if street ball legend Pee Wee Kirkland ended up signing with them in 1968, it could of been some extra fire power….

  12. I remembered my dad telling me how the Bulls were good physical team in the 70’s . Like the Knicks and Pistons of the 80’s and 90’s
