ESPN Just Revealed This HUGE Update About The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors coaching search has been a long drawn out process but if these reports are true, maybe it’s about to be over

In this video we break down the latest updates and try to figure out, who are they really going to hire?

The Toronto Raptors coaching search has been a long and ongoing process, but if this report is true, it could be about to finish. Reports are starting to build that Masai Ujiri’s front office is in the final stages of the hiring process for their vacant head coaching position left by firing Nick Nurse. A set group of candidates have been named as finalists for the role but with the Raptors being tight-lipped as usual, the finalists have remained unnamed.

Enough reporters are leaking out bits of stories that give us the ability to piece it together and based on that notion there are a few candidates to keep your eyes on. Who are the Raptors really looking to hire? What are they hiding from the public?

The announcement of a new head coach could be imminent.

  1. I love the Atkinson choice. Playoff exp – has worked with an offense that is tops in the league. Mike Brown moving to the Kings yielded a huge improevement. If the Raps get 25% of that type of swing the King's saw? Its a great move. Big win

  2. Who ever we hire, it will tell us a lot about what they are going to do with the team (blow it up or keep 90% of the team). I like Mtoumbo or Nash depending on which way they go.

  3. Plot Twist: Masai Ujiri is the new coach. He just interviewed everyone and their grandmother to write his playbook to play against them 🤣

  4. I'm not sure how much of the issue was roster construction or Nurse.

When Nurse was first hired, he was touted as the offensive brains behind Casey. That very same year, we had the best team this franchise has ever fielded and we won a champion. After that, everything went downhill, save for last season where we grossly overachieved. Now, we're being told that we're looking for a coach that can implement schemes in the half court? What about players that are skilled enough to operate in the half court THEN we can talk about schemes that maximize that ability.

  5. Don’t forget, we also need to replace assistant coaches. Griff is gone to the bucks, and I would assume some (if not all) of nurse’s staff will be gone as well. I think it’s more likely that candidates like Nash and Reddick were being considered for assistant roles.
