Did you watch the playoffs? He was a key player in getting them into the WCF, while Jaden lost to a wall. I think Jaden has the much higher ceiling and will be the better player, the average nba fan will take Reaves every day of the week.

  2. skolaen

I guess we just forgot that defense was a thing when its literally half of basketball. Then again its laker fans so im not suprised at how clueless they are

  3. ibeauch009

love Reaves, but Jaden was far better during the regular season. wish Jaden coulda made a name for himself in the playoffs like Reaves has

  4. badnewzrooz507

2% of the country even knows Jaden. LA is on sportscenter every night so yes the rest of the country thinks Reaves is better too.
This is flyover country, deal with it

Reeves was really solid in the playoffs and performed at a high level against the grizzlies. I’m not gunna throw shade at a dude that’s proven himself in the playoffs. I think Jaden is the more complete player but I wouldn’t complain about having either dude on this squad, both are very solid

  6. Critical-Fault-1617

I mean going off those stats above he’s better. But if we add defense into the equation Jaden blows him
Out the water. But idk why we’re even talking about this

  7. Snowskol

Y’all care a lot about what others say.

Lakers AND T-Wolves fan here. I got Jaden, too, but it’s closer than you guys think.

Austin, at times, can be the best option for a team that has AD, LeBron and dLo.

You couldn’t say that about Jaden, at least not yet.

This is a weird duo for them to be comparing. Reaves is a great young player. In my opinion he’s more dynamic with the ball than Jaden. But Jaden is far more dynamic on the defensive end. Both fan bases are (and should be) very happy with what they have.

Thunder fan here, Lakers fans are fucking idiots lol. McDaniels is great. They’ve probably only seen one T-Wolves game, and that’s the play in game that J-Mac coincidentally missed.

  11. South_Ad_7488

As long as they’re both just as good on defense this seems like a fair comparison! /s

  12. askforwildbob

This sub is overly defensive of anything JD related. I’d probably rather have Reaves, I’m not as big of a believer in the wolves roster as a whole.

  13. Austin reaver having the presence of mind to not break his hand on a concrete wall days before the start of the playoffs is a big plus for him tbf

  14. WillyB79

I love Jaden but Reaves IS better sorry

  15. napquin

Pretty much a block & steal per game. Slightly less efficient in offense. More rebounds. Guess all that matters is scoring smh

  16. aytoozee1

Haha, who gives a shit what some random Laker’s fan thinks

  17. Sugarking45

I would rather have Jaden but there is a argument for Austin

  18. fakeemail33993

Idk why but I think Reeves will fall off way before Jaden.

  19. Obeliscol2

Is it really that far off? Really not comparable players though, completely different skillsets. I love Jaden, but Reaves also looked damn good in some of the biggest moments in the playoffs

  20. PlayInChampions

It just shows that casual fans have low understanding of players’ value. Reaves is a baller, don’t get me wrong. However, every single team would rather have McDaniels than Reaves.

First of all, you can’t compare these players, completely different roles – secondary playmaker+spot-up shooter vs elite 3+D player. Secondly, McDaniels is way younger, under team control for more years. Players with his skillset are more difficult to find on open market or to trade for. Jordan Clarkson is a player with more-less Reaves’ role and you can get him in free agency.

Posting stats to compare players is pretty wild. For example, Dlo: 17.8/2.5/6.2 on 57% eFG as a primary ball-handler, and Reaves: 13/3/3.4 on 62% eFG as a secondary ball-handler/off ball player. Looking at raw numbers and roles one could say Dlo is a more valuable player.

  21. That sub is maybe more wild than ours! I don’t even follow but have engaged enough to see 3 separate posts about wanting naz Reid.

My biggest thing is McDaniel’s does have better defense but what I saw was Reeves show maturity while playing. He was calm, understood his role and didn’t defer to Bron like most. Jaden wasn’t so confident and at times was running like crazy to play defense which is good but it seemed at times he was wasting energy trying to be the glove. If he manages to use his energy wisely and don’t commit fouls when he starts to lose control then he is gonna be good. I still take Reeves though due to the player he has started to become and his demeanor but you can’t go wrong either way

  23. youvebeengreggd

Where are the lockdowns on this chart?

  24. Able-Bodied-Virgin

Really random players to compare. They have different offensive roles while Jaden is an All-Defense type player and Reaves is… not. Also, Jaden is 22 while Reaves is 25.

  25. chalbersma

Our 3 & D player shoots the same 3pt percentage, 2x the steals and 3x the blocks per game with more games played. No question, McDaniels is better.

If we were comparing PG and one guy put up 10pts 10assits/game and the other guy put up 30pts. 20 assists a game you wouldn’t call guy 1 better because he get’s 7 rebounds vs. 5.

  26. brentchub

Reaves numbers sooo inflated with his trips to the line courtesy of playing for the Lakers….put Jaden on that team and he’s averaging close to 18 ppg

  27. darin617

The major problem with the comparison is that Reaves wasn’t that good for most of the year and then picked it up big time.

I would honestly choose Reaves if you for the player that he was the last 2 months of the season without a doubt.

  28. jjgshnimnt

Not saying I think Reaves is better but it’s disingenuous to leave out his playoff stats. Clearly the 3rd best player on a conference finals team. That’s more than anything McDaniels has ever done.

    17/4/5 on 62 TS% 36 minuets per game +/- +73

McDaniels is really good but stop pretending Reaves isn’t also really good.
