“Depth” doing some legwork if we’re being honest

Like, when the best of these guards is a debate between a washed up dragon, an alleged spousal abuser who’s done a lot of nothing in Sacramento since and Jeff Dowtin Jr., you know the guard situation has been the biggest problem with the team besides the lack of a center

  2. WorldTwisting

They need to trade Pascal to get the guard depth back + picks

  3. kyle_993

I know we obviously needed more depth but when you have 3 guys who deserve to have the ball (Fred, Siakam and Scottie) and 2 guys who want the ball (OG and Trent) your backup guards are going to get no minutes and no touches. So that’s why we never really had any good backup guards because if you were a backup guard why would you want to come here and get little minutes and little touches?

  4. Accomplished-Pace213

I wonder if any of these players would flourish if they were allowed to play through their mistakes.

So many of my problems with how Masai and Bobby have managed the roster these past few years distilled into one picture.

  6. JtheKing2k

Was there a particular reason why we let go of Terence Davis that I don’t know about? I could’ve swore he was decent for us in his first year and showed good promise but then we traded him to the kings for a bag of chips.

  7. DontCheeseMeBro

Happens when you focus on acquiring a bunch of 6’9 guys instead of proper team building

  8. MDS_1996

Surely the Raptors lack of quality guard depth over the last 3 seasons isn’t on the FO right?

  9. somedumbguy55

Seems we forget Fred was that back up when we were balling out

  10. pikachuda6

Jeff Dowtin was decent, I blame this on Nick Nurse not developing him properly.

  11. Scase15

Man, Nick Nurse is terrible at developing these HOF level players. Thank fuck we fired him, these guys finally have a chance to break out.

Oh what’s that? Most of them are out of the league? Well shit.

  12. Hurls07

These are the guys Nurse was supposed to develop while also pushing for the play-in lol

  13. Responsible-Release7

When you put it that way I guess we’re not drafting a guard

  14. SpicyP43905

Shouldn’t Norm and Gary be on this list? They e played backup SG for us at times.

  15. SteveDougson

Also, we didn’t have a centre during that time

  16. midnightmunchiez

For a sec I thought this was a list of 905 players. And then I realized it was.

  17. BOOTYBOOTBOOTERBOOTS

Deandre Bembry was a guard, no? Or was he more SF?

  18. Fit-Introduction8575

A lot of these were star scorers in college/inferior leagues, the raptors picked them up as part of this strange “second-draft” trend but none of them were reliable enough to play our defensive schemes…

  19. FO: “we tried nothing and we’re out of ideas”

  20. FaceMaskYT

I’m so happy Goran Tragic doesn’t get to experience this Heat run, what an absolute ass

  21. Rey123x

It’s true, our franchise didn’t have an explosive all star guard the closest was TJ Ford decades ago

  22. theuncleboz

I legitimately have no recollection of Shamorie Ponds and I watch about 95% of Raptors games. Am I the only one?

  23. jovijovi99

Fans will read this list and still want Vanvleet and GTJ to walk.

  24. -KFBR392

Outside of Davis the best player on that list is probably Armoni Brooks and that’s really sad.

  25. CarousersCorner

Dragic is such a bitch. Every time I see his name I chuckle

  26. djexplosive

I forgot Will Barton is on the team 💀

  27. ShroudedMeep

Terence Davis was OK until he decided to ruin his own image.

Matt Thomas was genuinely a good shooter with limited use his first year in Toronto. Now he is in Greece though, so…

Dowtin showed a little bit of promise this year at least.

I’m trying to find positives :p
