Among all the factors, Brad Stevens said, “if we’re over .500 at home (in the playoffs) we would have had rest and we’d be in the finals.”

This comes down to focus and effort in games we *should* win, but let slip away.

Three times in the playoffs we lost in the last minute of the game (once against the Hawks and twice against the Sixers). If we flip 2 or 3 of those results, the Hawks series in a sweep or 5 games, and the sixers series is 5/6 games.

Us losing game 1 in each series comes down to focus and effort because the team has the comfort of knowing they have more home games than the other team AND their confidence to play well on the road.

X’s and O’s need to improve from a late game execution standpoint, but Joe needs to prepare the team’s mindset next season to treat all playoff games equally.

It’s amazing and was really striking to me how many people I heard call into Felger & Mazz and some of the people I heard at the game on Monday night, who just hate this team.

  3. No Brad, us being well rested wasn’t the reason we fall apart. We fall apart because we lack execution.

Yeah we fucked around with Atlanta, which was alarming. Each round we played more games than we should have. Should have beat Miami in 6 if we were rested

    Past decade+ we’ve had the:

    – Big 3 Era

    – IT Era

    – Kyrie Error

    – Fuck Around And Find Out Era

If you would have had a coach that knew how to attack a zone defense you would be in the finals. They teach that shit in middle school.

Lol everyone and this rest narrative. Keep thinking “rest” is why the team consistently chokes. Brad sounds like one of you guys

there you go again.the analytic part of Brad Stevens, as if that can win championship. tell me why did Miami heat beat us?

we don’t need Brad Stevens, he is soft. and that Grousbeck has some balls? omg, just wait till players go out of Boston.

Grousbeck is barking at a wrong tree. who is not hurt here on the defeat, raise your arm.

This is great. It’s Brad’s equivalent of

    “You guys played like assholes”

This issue stems to the start of the season. Not taking teams serious because they’re missing their star player and thinking you can get gifted a win without trying. It lost you Game 5 at Home against Atlanta and it lost you game 1 at Home against Philly. The arrogance of the team was also the downfall.

We saw this all year, maybe most notably when they lost to OKC by 40 without SGA. Or when the Nets came back from 28 down.

Something seems to be missing from this team. What it is? I really don’t know. That’s one of the most confounding things about all of this.

They are arguably more talented than anyone else in this league. At the very least, top 3. Yet so many times they play down to their competition (or far below them). And they’ve done it now with 3 different coaches. I don’t get it.

thats cause you kiss their ass so much brad theyre soft. they dont listen AND play. so sick of this

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts then.. how does the rest of this go again?

We’d be in the finals if Tatum had landed 3 inches to his left and not rolled his ankle. Simple as.

  15. Fascinating- tell me more Brad… If I had a million dollars I’d be a millionaire

Watched them fail the same way for years.

They turn the ball over and take bad 3’s everywhere – we aren’t talking about a geography issue.

When Horford went 0-8 from 3 and the coach is throwing it in reporters faces as a positive. Not everything is 10 layers deep bro – shitty shot selection is timeless. Look there to start

Being below .500 as the 2nd overall best record in the league is really a ridiculous stat. This team needs to control games at home.

The Garden faithful deserve a lot of flack for this. There were only a handful of games that really felt like real Boston playoff games and the 3 I can think of ended in Ws. Game 7 was the most disappointed I have ever been in a crowd. They stood up one time all game then booed and left. If you swapped the lower bowl with the guys at Hurricanes across the street we would have won by 20.

If you’re a rich dude or a kid with a rich dad and are sitting in those 10k seats, you better be howling the whole game.

While I’m complaining, the stage lighting has got to go as well.

  18. ViktorVonn

Noooo shit, if we only didn’t lose so much we wouldn’t have been eliminated

  19. SnooAvocados996

    Probably also Brad:

“In the off-season I will be working with the coaches to see how we can shoot more three point shots.”
