He is getting paid more than majority of the team.
A perfect fit. Monty's true skill is his ability to establish a culture and help guys find their strengths on the court. That's exactly what Detroit needs. He's not necessarily an Xs and Os guy or a great game manager, but with a low pressure situation in Detroit he'll be able to focus on what he'd does best and help guys like Cade, Ivey, Duran and the rest of the young guys develop.

Maybe I’m old but when did coaching become how well you and bend down, unbuckle pants, and wet your lips? The days of merit are over. Look at doc rivers. Hands down the most worthless coach in nba history given the talent he’s had. But he has really strong jaw lines and it’s clear he doesn’t get job after job due to performance. America used to be number one because we promoted performance. Now it’s just about who can make your bosses’ pupils roll to the back of their heads while they less the back of your head towards them. It’s sad that this zero accomplishment coach got the richest deal in history smh
