According to his Wikipedia page Schlenk was heavily accredit for identifying Draymond Green as a draft prospect
This is massive. And he’s not even the GM
Woj seems to have good words for this guy. I can’t say I remember anything he did being the Hawks GM, although I definitely remember the name. Wikipedia says he was a big booster of Draymond Green when he was at Golden State, so that’s good.
Seems like a bit of a backwards step for him but nice to grab another exec with some top level experience
that’s a good hire
Winger you beautiful bastard don’t give me hope
Step aside NBA finals…the Wizards front office moves are taking the main stage tonight
I wonder if this means we have a GM identified and are just working out details before announcing?
Winger assembling the NBA FO Avengers, let’s GOOOO
We’re operating like a real basketball team… ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
Hawks fan here: I was always a Travis fan and disappointed to see him go. His tenure was far from perfect, though there is a lot of mixed rumors about the decision making process with the FO and ownership.
I will say that Travis is pretty good at talent evaluation, with nearly every draft pick he made earning a second contract in the league. Downside was some questionable contracts, but it sounds like he is staying in his lane with this new role.
